My opinion:

Massive FF, one of the best! Hopefully this guy has a future in politics. He's a sane GOPer who is socially liberal. We both have very identical political views, and he overall seems like a cool person I guess.

Doesn't he look like the one bad guy from Iron Man 1 (not Jeff Bridges, the other one)?

6) the GOP should become fiscally conservative, but socially liberal (like me lol) if it is to survive

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Massive FF.  He easily could have helped save the GOP, both in California and nationally.

No, no he could not have.  Firstly, he ran a campaign of insulting your typical republican.  You need these people. You need them to shut up, but you still need them.  Then he ran against the breathtakingly serious and competent Jerry Brown. He was simply never going to beat Brown, whose political positioning has evolved to 'adult supervision in Sacramento'  His economic record (running TARP), regardless of the value of that program, is one that screams 'I don't work for the public good' and makes him about as relatable as Thurston Howell III. Lastly, he just creeps people out.  He looks like a supervillain. His commercials involved him menacingly wielding an axe above his head.  Say what you will, but the public are vain.

Personally, I simply can't take anyone seriously who uses the word 'chu-chu' or plays with a toy steam engine when discussing the High Speed Rail project.  Such children should play elsewhere, especially when running against a man who the public view as the serious adult.
