A small man who reached to top thanks to strange manoeuvres in the 1944 Democratic National Convention. The personification of mediocrity and insignificance.

Massive FF (R)

- Dropping the Bombs
- Marshall Plan (arguably the greatest decision in U.S. Foreign Policy history)
- Recognizing the Partition Plan and the State of Israel (Though, his willingness in the matter was hardly enthusiastic at the beginning).

Good actions on civil rights, considering the love for FDR I doubt he would of been bold in 1948. During the war he investigated waste and saved something like $16 billion. His foreign policy was a bit too aggressive but tbh you need that against Stalin post '45. If someone like Taft was President Greece, Turkey and South Korea all could have turned communist

Decisively ended the second world war, fought Communism, rebuilt Europe, desegregated the military. Probably the best President of the 20th century, great FF.  The one black spot on his record is the recognition of Israel but the other distant contenders for the top spot (Wilson, muh FDR, Kennedy, Reagan) all have more.

Top 5 President. With a less inane Congress, he could have been greater than FDR.

Terrible president

- used nuclear weapons against noncombatants not once, but twice, in spite of the fact that it was clear the Japanese were ready to surrender
- purged civil society and the trade unions of the left, getting the ball rolling for McCarthyism
- plunged the U.S. into an utterly pointless global conflict with the USSR, PRC, and the rest of the Eastern bloc in spite of the fact that the latter group was not ever interested in 'world domination' by the time that the Stalinist counterrevolution had taken root
- fought a pointless war in Korea that killed hundreds of thousands of people
- pretended to oppose the Taft-Hartley Act (in reality, he'd have signed it if it had given him more discretion in terms of settling strikes by force) then used it repeatedly to force workers back to work, including drafting steelworkers into the army, etc
- incredibly corrupt
- allowed Israel to be a thing

FF on domestic policy, massive HP on foreign policy.

Since when are you a foreign policy dove? Or do you not approve because he didn't go far enough with the Korean War, Marshall Plan, etc?

This is utter bulls**t. The Soviets were extremely interested in enlarging their sphere of global influence, especially under Stalin (we're talking pure neoimperialism by one superpower, as opposed to idea of world revolution).

Striking the unsupported, vague assertion of being "incredibly corrupt", every other thing on this list is why Truman was a massive FF and one of the best Presidents America's ever had.

Unsupported? I think not. It was pretty well known that Truman exercised incredibly bad judgement in appointing people to high office, most of whom were good 'ol boys from the Kansas City political machine that produced Truman himself.
