Surprisingly low number among GOPers for favorite son Kasich (especially in light of his very strong OH general numbers). Walker polled at 40 in WI, Bush and Rubio have topped 30 in FL polls, Rand got 26 in the last KY poll and even Christie was able to top 20 in NJ.

Here is the real link to the poll:

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2015/06/kasich-leads-field-in-ohio.html

On the GOP side, who leads among....?
moderates: Bush/Kasich tie
somewhat conservative: Kasich
very conservative: Carson
age 18-45: Kasich
age 46-65: Rubio
age 65+: Kasich

I also used the second choices #s given to calculate what the support would be if Kasich wasn't running, and his supporters were reallocated to second choices:

Bush 15%
Carson 15%
Walker 15%
Rubio 14%
Paul 12%
Huckabee 8%
Christie 6%
Cruz 5%

Remember, Ohioans are still getting the national news. A whole lot of people have multiple candidates they support at this stage of the primary and sift and winnow as the field coalesces. The fact that he's getting 19% in Ohio while only 2% nationally speaks volumes that people are willing to tell a pollster they're supporting him even while he's forgotten in the news above the local level.

Kasich is almost no one's first choice for the nomination it seems.

Don't laugh.  He already has more support than Chafee, O'Malley, and Webb combined.  Tongue
