RIP, a true legend.

He was not only a Horror film icon (playing Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and The Mummy), he also appeared in pretty much everything. His IMDb profile lists 281 acting credits, starting in 1946.

This includes being a James Bond villain, appearances in inane franchises like Airport, Gremlins, or Police Academy, guest spots on TV shows like The Avengers (the one with Mrs. Peel), Space: 1999, and Charlie's Angels, and more comtemporary roles in the Star Wars prequel and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit films.

His role as Scaramanga is one of the best things about The Man with the Golden Gun; even those Bond fans who don't like the movie don't fault his performance.

He was also involved in Special Forces during the war but kept very quiet about his activities during that time.

RIP.

RIP. Another legend. Sad

Of course he was as classy and iconic as movie villains came.

He carried a lot of the Hammer series, which was a response to the old Universal Studios monster movies. Lee was picture perfect for the shadowy characters he portrayed.

Christopher Lee also holds the record for actor with the longest time period between being in a Best Picture winning movie.

He was in 1948's Hamlet and 2003's Lord of the Rings.

That is cool! He was one villain I could pull for. (Warren Beatty would be another, as in Bonnie and Clyde Tongue).

But he wasn't actually in the theatrical release of Return of the King, was he?  I thought his scene in that movie only happened in the extended DVD cut.

He deserves an posthumus Oscar of some kind for his work. Maybe a stretch but hear me out.

I know he never got to Oliver or O'Toole levels but Lee was as immortal as them and just as loved by everyone who acts and watches film. More than anything he helped keep the English film industry due to his hammer work.

If James E Jones got one so can Lee.

Christopher Lee can also claim the honor of having appeared in movies directed by Laurence Olivier, John Huston, Jerry Lewis, Billy Wilder, Steven Spielberg, John Landis, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Tim Burton, George Lucas, Peter Jackson, and Martin Scorsese, among many others.

Anyway, I think I'll try to watch The Wicker Man and Dracula (1958) the next couple of days.

R.I.P. Sir Christopher, he was excellent, particularly as Scaramanga and Count Dooku.

He was given a BAFTA fellowship in 2011; Tim Burton actually presented him with the award.

Fun Fact: Lee actually witnessed the last public execution in France as a teenager.

Anyone seen Jinnah?  That's apparently the one he himself considered his most important role.
