Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is a “bro with no ho,” according to his colleague, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)

The assessment of Graham’s love life was made during a Senate Appropriations Committee markup on Thursday and caught on a live microphone.

“I’ve been joking with Lindsey,” Kirk can be heard saying. “Did you see that? He’s going to have a rotating first lady. He’s a bro with no ho."

Kirk is taking a shot at Graham's lack of a wife or girlfriend by using words commonly thought of as African-American slang, then explaining that his statement is what Graham would be called in the largely African-American area of his hometown of Chicago. It's offensive because Kirk, a wealthy white man from the North Shore, thinks he can channel African-American vernacular, and in doing so implies that most of the people who live on the South Side refer to men as "bros" and women as "hos" (a flagrantly sexist term for a prostitute).
