Her parents are Christian fundamentalists? Who adopted black kids?

You realize this woman is a fuc*ing nutjob, right? She's an embarrassment on society. So we don't defend her, we don't condone her, and we shouldn't acknowledge her.

For onconce, Naso is right. For all the interesting questions about race and identity this has raised, the woman's statements even beyond her race and brother have been a recurring crock of $hit.

Transracial makes more sense than transgender, honestly.

Transracial makes more sense than transgender, honestly.

But it's less real.

Like the feels that make trans people kill themselves? The ones caused by people like you?

The fact that mentally unstable people act unstably is unfortunate, but I don't see how it makes their cause somehow a noblesse oblige. Depressed people kill themselves. Grad students kill themselves. Religious extremists kill themselves. People do terrible, selfish things for all manner of reasons.

Some are willing to die to tear down the immutability of morality and objective reality to establish a world where identity and truth exists from moment-to-moment on your own selfish feelings, whims, and wishes. They are not martyrs. They are extremists, and people are too afraid to offend anyone that they decide to placate them instead.

I really fail to understand how on earth transgendered people are selfish, or extremists. Or why on earth you're drawing a comparison. Or what you're getting out of doing so.

Bravo! Truly excellent. Bravo.

Is this in any way surprising?

Christian fundamentalists believe that Christian fundamentalism is for everyone irrespective of ethnicity and nationality. Christian fundamentalism is not racist as such.

The family appeared with the daughter and her black husband in a wedding picture. The family did not disown her then. She went off in an unexpected direction.

Maybe the problem isn't that she identifies as black. Disguise? She used a not-very-common surname, her maiden name, to identify her art. If one is to go in disguise to avoid being tracked down, then one had better not use a rare maiden name.   Most likely she is NOT a Christian fundamentalist any more. Christian fundamentalism is easy to outgrow.

Her family and she seem to have some problems.

Let's be clear…she's not currently black. Everybody knows that to change races, one would have to be selected by another race in the Racial Draft. No word yet on where the Black delegation ranks her ahead of the 2015 Racial Draft. Rumor has it though that the American Indian delegation is strongly considering drafting Elizabeth Warren in the 1st round.

http://mynorthwest.com/992/2774838/Rachel-Dolezal-is-everything-thats-wrong-with-political-correctness

GREAT ARTICLE.

---

Take for example a mind-blowingly laughable conversation on MSNBC with host Melissa Harris-Perry, who once mocked Mitt Romney for having an adopted black grandchild. Rather than call Dolezal out for pretending to be black, Harris-Perry asks:

But is it possible that she might actually be black? The best way that I know how to describe this, and I want to be very careful here because I don't want to say it's equivalent to the transgender experience. But there is a useful language in "trans" and "cis" which is just to say some of us are born cis-gendered, some of us are born transgendered, but I wonder can it be that one would be cis-black and trans-black. That there is actually a different category of blackness that is about achievement of blackness despite one's parentage. Is that possible?

None of the words coming out of Perry's mouth mean anything. It's just a bunch of words strung together to form what activists think is brilliant analysis of a complex issue, when the issue isn't complex at all: you can't be black when you're white, nor can you be white when you are black. You want to identify as such? Fine - but you'll be judged as either mentally unwell or as an opportunist.

Political correctness means you never, ever make someone feel bad, even if it's unintentional, and you definitely shouldn't judge them (unless that person is a Republican, then you get to mock them all you want). And it's gotten so crazy that even people who you know want to rip Dolezal for her deception, stop themselves from talking about the contrived "transracial" concept.

She may have made most of the cultural transition to being black, but she is still a white woman here.

No deceit here. The woman in the image has clearly renounced all connections to any prior 'whiteness' except for keeping a Czech maiden name that blew her cover.

Her genes are still white. If she had a child by a white man (she is young enough to do that, but whether she has such an inclination is pure speculation), then she would be a black woman with a white child. Otherwise, what she claims to be is what she is.

She is an extreme example of reinvention of oneself.

Few people have a more interesting story to tell.

DNA does not lie.   In that, she is white.  Otherwise...

She made her choices. Irrevocable choices? I cannot say.  I see no cause for her to reverse those changes.

There are black people with some stereotypically white features, even including blond hair and blue eyes. But we know that such people are black because some other features establish that they are not white.

I have known black people with lighter skin than hers. The hair? Do you know of any white person with hair naturally like that? She makes Mariah Carey look unambiguously white.

Just the fascination with people reinventing themselves, something that many Americans fantasize about doing. Great story, and weird.
