Admit a subject or field that you know extremely little or nothing about.

I'll start:

Cars. I have no idea how to change the oil or a tire. If you were to open up the hood of a car I would not know what I'm looking at. But it's not only the mechanics of a car, it's also cars in general. I frequently mix up models and makes, and I tend to describe cars in a very basic format such as "four door sedan" or "hatchback."

I think it's because I've always seen cars as something one uses and not owns. Even though I have a car and drive it frequently, I don't personalize it with anything. Also, unlike some people who use their car as a spare room, there is absolutely nothing in my car other than gum, a notepad, and napkins.

I would be perfectly happy with a public car sharing service, provided that each car was clean.

Most of things people my age are knowledgeable about (music, celebrities, sports, and yes, cars). I have been learning a lot about films recently though, thanks to the wonders of the internet.

Sports.

Also celebrities to a lesser extent.

This, though I have an ESPN app on my iPhone and whenever sports come up, I bring it out to get a grasp of what we're talking about

Music. I can never hear the words in a song unless I really concentrate, and the concept of deliberately listening to it frequently goes right over my head.

While I know there is much I know I don't know, I'd like to think I have decent enough instincts to figure out most of it myself if forced, and the internet where I can't.

However, Quantum Mechanics is an absolute forget it...with Engineering and Computer Sciences not far behind.

I know virtually nothing about any television from the past ten or so years at this point.  I realize this probably reads as "lol hipster thinks he's too good for the boob tube", but it's actually a source of embarrassment more than anything.  I know there's a lot of stuff I'm missing out on.

As the son of two musicians, I'm really sorry to hear the, and I'm not being sarcastic (surprisingly).

And in my case, a lot of effing sh#t. Same as the rest of us.

I'm sorry too haha. I still can connect to music and feel inspired by it or whatever... I just really can't hear the words, and I definitely don't have music playing all the time like some people. If I want to listen to music it basically has to be the only thing I'm doing. Maybe that's silly.

I'm kind of an idiot in a common knowledge sense. For example, it was about three days ago that I learned that not all bulls are black like in cartoons. I also once melted a pair of flats because I tried to dry them in the microwave. To this day, I still can not operate a manual can opener.

Same here, no joke.

The last part is also true, but I stand by that Quantum Mechanics, Engineering, and Computer Sciences are by far the most alien.

Sports statistics, celebrities, pop culture, song lyrics, movie directors

I can recall the average summer temps of Reykjavik, Iceland (cool mid 50sF) but I can't tell you the latest Rihanna song and I certainly don't care who directed the last movie I saw.

I'm much more interested in how systems work.  And making them better.

Also...random historical politicians or political parties or movements.  Dialectical materialism should be forced back into the throat of he who first uttered it.
