Yes, eating less matters far more than exercising more does, according to the data. Who knew?

Cut the carbs baby, and you will want to eat less. Less carbs = less eats = less fat.

Well, no sh*t Sherlock. I've lost 15 kilograms over a little more than one year without any kind of exercise.

Getting muscles is a different thing, of course.

I think that's news to nobody.  Weight loss is a game of calories in vs. calories expended.  Nobody, especially someone who has a sedentary job can expend enough calories during the day to make up for overeating junk food.  Exercise burns far less calories than the average person assumes.  And, fat people are too fat to exercise at a high intensity for a long time anyway.  You also have those people who reward themselves with fattening food whenever they burn 45 calories on the stationary bike.

Also its not about swearing off foods you actually enjoy.  Adding foods that are healthier that you enjoy is a better way.

Some common mistakes:

Outside of, say, milk...the low fat option isn't your friend.  In order to make that Italian dressing palatable sans delicious good for you fatty oils is to load it full of gummy thickeners and sugar.  Just get the full fat stuff.  Same goes for creamy dressings.

Fat has 9 calories per gram compared to 4 for carbs and protein.  But fat will trigger your belly to feel full faster as well.  Carbs are like crack for your brain. It will want more and more.  Add some msg and cheese dust and you were doomed from the start.

Yeah, the human body did not evolve to sit in front of a computer and eat three meals a day. Also, restaurant food, especially in the USA, is way overboard on portions in most cases. Exercise plus cutting one's intake in about half (or even more) will result in weight loss, and that's lifestyle and routine, both of which are often extremely difficult for overweight and obese people to change.

I've lost 20+ pounds since early May, mainly because I changed my eating habits, but I also exercise for 2 hours almost everyday (my worst week was 2 missed days)

Yeah I've lost 25 pounds since March on that fasting diet, and I'm doing it slightly half assedly. That, plus a lot of cardio, but it really isn't that hard to just.. not eat much. You get used to it.

Ah, the "put down the fork" diet plan. I know a certain Oklahoman who could use this.

I have a feeling that the OP was experiencing a hangover...

I wonder what percent of people on this forum aren't morbidly obese.
