You're weird......

anyway, I'm not a super fan of the genre, but there are some bands I enjoy (less now than when I was younger).

GWAR
Anthrax
White Zombie/Rob Zombie
I don't think there are 2 others that stand above the rest, but I also listened to and enjoyed me some:
Tool(first two albums)
Ministry(Psalms 69)
Megadeth(first 3 or 4 albums)
Prong
Suicidal Tendencies
Slayer
probably others...oh, Pantera, but if I can't think of them now, then they probably don't mean much to me.  And really, if you're liberal with the term "heavy metal", none of those bands would make the top 5.  Some people think crazy sh**t like Aerosmith and LZ are heavy metal, I'm not one of them.  It's hard to figure where the line is though....is Black Sabbath metal?  Probably.  Judas Priest?  The heavier hair bands?  I don't know.  AC/DC?  Even some punk/grunge bands come pretty close.  Soundgarden can be pretty freaking heavy.  Is it just a fast beat with guitars with "that metal sound" or do you have to have the look too?  Is the look enough?

Now that I've looked at the wiki, it seems I'm confusing thrash metal with heavy metal, heavy metal being a broad term meaning pretty much anything that is fast, has guitars and isn't punk (or punk derived).  Too broad for me, but whatever.

Cool Opeth
