Gonna take an unpopular stance: a FF, except for this.

This thread is so void of any sort of discussion that it's just depressing.

Let me undepress you then. She's been a better governor than I had feared back in 2010 when she was running for her first term as governor. Indeed, for one with her politics, she's been pretty good.  She's young enough that I could see her running for a third term in 2026 (or 2022 if a Dem wins in 2018) and compared to other potential Republicans, she'd likely be one of the better choices.

(There's no good path for her to run for another office after 2018 when she gets term limited other than possibly in a Republican cabinet.)

What makes Haley better than a generic tea party governor?

She's certainly better than Sanford was.  She doesn't go out of her way to antagonize those who disagree with her as he did.  It's not that her politics are that different from a generic tea partier, but that she's able to express them without being shrill or taking delight in being a martyr.

Breaking: she apparently may flip-flop on the fleg issue! That's one thing in her favour. (The other good thing about her is that she isn't Mark Sanford)

Would she have a shot if she tried to primary Graham in 2020?

Not sure why her reversal of position would make her a FF now. It took a massacre for her to switch her position away from a battle flag that flew under a vicious government and was later made famous by the Ku Klux Klan.

Sorry dude, but there wasn't really a legion of Republicans or Democrats adamantly calling for its removal before this.  People give Truman a pass for being a huge racist early in his career because he eventually did the right thing.  People give LBJ the same forgiveness for his sh*tty civil rights record as a Senator because he came around and ended up supporting and signing the CRA.  Robert Byrd - who literally was a Klansman - is more or less completely forgiven because he said sorry!!

I expect the same treatment - at least on this issue - for Haley, Graham and everyone else calling for its removal.
