I'm leaving for Milwaukee tonight and won't be on Atlas for awhile, so for this one I went with a really controversial one likely to spawn debate for awhile. (But not the should be blatantly obvious one that I'm saving for the finale.)

The fact that someone as gay as retromike thinks that really puts into perspective just how petty the Atlas mods are.

Why was he banned? He seems alright on AAD.

He went out of his way to get banned because of a dispute with the mods. At the time I thought his reason wasn't entirely without merit, but his response was entirely without merit and is what led to his being banned. I think AF would be better if we had a poster like him here again, as he is a reasonably intelligent proponent of his views, but because of what happened, it won't be him. (We have intelligent posters, and posters with his views, but not an intelligent poster with his views.)

On a personal note, interacting with him is a principal reason I got back into intensive Bible study, tho because we approach the book from different assumptions, doing so only served to reinforce my liberal theology.  I do miss the dinner doodles and if I ever sign up for AAD, interacting with him again would be a prime reason. However, I don't need another way to spend my time, which is why I haven't signed up and am unlikely to.

BRTD why don't you ask jmfcst if it is not true, that at the end, he engaged in a serious of acts in order to get himself banned, as some sort of martyr or whatever. I was one who, while not a mod then, was taking my time to privately defend him with the Mod cave denizens, but in the end, his conduct destroyed "my case" as it were. But yes, I agree that he has been just fine on AAD, albeit AAD has a different posting culture, that obviously in many aspects, would be wholly inappropriate here. And that's the beauty of having two forums.
