And apparently, there is no constitutional provision for the CJO to do it.

Also/as a side-note: Simfan nominated Antonio like two weeks ago but never asked him prior nor bothered to even tell him that he had been nominated.

Also, the last activity in the Pacific government occurred by me on June 5th and the last action taken by the Governor occurred on June 8th.

Some more on the Council: There is no Speaker and there is really only one Councilor with jojoju the weird kid having disappeared after swearing in and Antonio never knowing he was appointed thus not swearing in.

Deeply disturbing!

Oh wow, surely there should be some sort of federal action when a regional government collapses?

The simple thing to do is to move people in the region.

The Pacific looks kind of like Bain Capital got their hands on it.

The regions are responsbile for electing competant leadership. The only proper obligation of the Federal Gov't is to ensure that the ability of the region's people to do so is maintained. There might be a means for the SoFE to assume responsibility, but it would depend on the Pacific Constitution.

Ask BK, he is the expert on these things.

I mean, surely there has to be something in place to allow us to do something right now, the Pacific has been in steep decline for a while now

There's no reason, with Atlasia's population at its highest ever, that we can't sustain five healthy regions. The problem is with disproportionate distribution and zombie-ism.

I'd hoped that the passage of the districts amendment would have helped to revive the Pacific, but that wasn't to be.

A lot of the issues that the region suffered from have been solved - Tyrion, myself, Cranberry and DemPGH passed a new constitution and reform the structure of the government from the horror of the Wolfentoad Era, but the main issue remains that people move on to bigger things and aren't replaced by any newbies.

This is a very serious situation. Consideration as to how to move forward must be taken at once.

Maybe we need another Pacific Crisis Management Committee like we had under Duke?

Tongue in cheek:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWa0dZMHYeE

Really, though, part of me misses the days of, Cranberry, oakvale, Flo, and me, et. al. jumpstarting this region, but yeah, people move over and other people need to move in. The shame is, it really doesn't HAVE to take that much personal time. It never did with me. There just don't seem to be enough interested people to really maintain the status quo. The other risk is to have another Wolfentoad, but you at least need semi-active people around whoever bosses the region, and I just don't see it. Another crisis team would be something, but best case it would be just another very temporary fix to a chronic problem.

Oh dear, the region has rather ground to a halt hasn't it? I've been admittedly quiet on here recently myself, but I'll be happy to help my region in any productive way.

I believe it is within my power to operate a voting booth.  Has anybody declared for anything?  I don't see any pacific declarations outside of Turkisblau for federal senate.

I'm going to move back as soon as possible (I think that's in two weeks or so) and try to see what I can do. Let's not give up.

Good thing the region's legal jurisprudence says the Pacific Justice basically has dictator-like powers in a situation like this!

Yes, the problem appears to be a lack of declared candidates for any office

I hate to party-poop, but

a) there is no Lt-Gov position in the Pacific
b) nearly 100% certain Gov elections are in Dec, Apr, Aug

Hello RG Griff,

There is no constitutional mechanism for replacing inactive office-holders; therefore I have determined that the best possible course of action is to hold a replacement election.

Technically...

You would move to hold an election for the Council, and then the Council would proceed with impeachment hearings. If successful, a public vote on the matter would be held and the Speaker would then become acting-Governor for the remainder of the term if the Governor was successfully removed. Just because it is convoluted does not mean it doesn't exist.

That's not possible because a majority of the council has been inactive for longer than the governor. I support the actions of the Pacific Justice to bring stability to our region in these challenging times

Huh The Council's term under normal circumstances is up, to be replaced by a new batch of incoming Councillors via this election. Once they were elected, they would be able to handle this through the means outlined.

The Pacific has squirmed and struggled under a functionally useless government for long enough.  Today I have signed into law, citing emergency circumstances, the one law which has been voted on by the Council this month.  However, in order to alter our current state of affairs, all Pacific residents must vote in our gubernatorial and council elections to fill our inactive offices.
