The present Australian flag is pretty lousy of course as it lacks any specific ties with Australia (official colours, link to the Aborigines etc.)

That said I'm not wild about the new one. I don't mind the curves, but I think retaining the Southern Cross makes it a bit too cluttered.

Should have elaborated a bit more, that's just one of the reasons. I do think the Southern Horizon looks like an excited Digital Graphics student's work, as vivaportugalhabs stated.
