With Trump apparently a first tier candidate, I figured we might as well have this thread (Trump vs. Clinton already exists).

Both would be unacceptable to the general populace, however, Trump wins.

The only way Trump would even be competitive in such a pairing, was if he made Jeb his running mate and Rubio, Sandoval and Martinez his trio of campaign managers. Even then he would struggle with Mexicans and other Central American voters. Tongue

In this scenario, I could actually see a centrist third party candidate winning.

The only one with the money and name recognition to compete is Bloomberg, and Trump running would make that a lot more difficult.

This is one of the few match ups Sanders could win, but I'd still give Trump 55-45 odds.

This is one of the few matchups where I would actually vote Sanders.

This is probably the only scenario in which I can imagine Trump winning.

OK, Trump neutralizes the TPP and Iraq war issues, but come on, Sanders still wins.

How would the centrist candidate be different from Sanders? Are people really that passionate about Obamacare and free trade?

Sanders would win in a landslide or near-landslide.

How would the centrist candidate be different from Sanders?

It would be someone who is not a socialist.

Policy-wise, how would they be different?

Bernie's (or anyone else who finds themself running against Trump) floor is around 60% of the popular vote

In this scenario, I could actually see a centrist third party candidate winning.

Yes, but he asked for differences from Bernie, not similarities

If this were the scenario, I would not be surprised if there were one, and possibly two or three prominent individuals launching independent GE campaigns.
