Holding my nose, Jackson.

In 1824, I would have voted for the Jeffersonian (Crawford) rather than Jackson or either of the 2 Hamiltonians (Adams/Clay).

Really says a lot that "libertarians" are supporting a racist maniac over Hamilton just because Hamilton supported big government/central banking.

Not excusing Jackson's atrocities here, but it needs to be noted that had Hamilton's diabolical SPECTREesque plans been more successful we might have had a bit of a cleansing against people who opposed the Treasury.  Of course hindsight is 20/20 and we can say who we would have supported on what makes us feel good, but that's the result of the road more widely traveled than the alternatives actually being that great.

lol, what does it say? That we're racist? I don't hear anyone condoning the actions of Jackson's Indian Removal.

I love how if one votes for Jackson they are automatically racist but if you vote for Hamilton, whose party included leagues of anti-French and anti-Irish racists (said racists later used the fear of "wild Irishmen" to push for and eventually pass some of the first really nativist legislation in this country's history) and tried to use incursions into Indian country as an excuse to advocate for a large standing army even in peacetime (which later enabled Presidents like Jackson to forcibly remove large amounts of Natives), you are some principled anti-racist is pretty fallacious to say the least.  But yes I know, Hamilton was such a principled anti-slavery advocate he supported that brave abolitionist Thomas Pinckney for President (snicker).

Ironically if it weren't for the advocacy of a strong military by Hamilton and crew it is possible we might not have had a President Jackson to begin with, given that a lot of his reputation that propelled him to political office and eventually President was due to his military accolades.  Something that seems lost on many.

Again, the only reason Hamilton ends up looking seemingly less horrible is because his more Bond villainy ideas failed badly and thus he is only remembered largely for his economic vision while people tend to whitewash a good deal of his anti-democratic and elitist views that even John Adams criticized.
