It might show Hillary's strength as a frontrunner that this isn't seen as a big deal.

If a guy with this record ran against Al Gore in 2000, he would have been seen as a major competitor.

The alternate explanation is that this shows how far-left the Democrats have become that Webb went from plausible Obama running mate to non-starter presidential candidate in seven years.

Overall, not much impact.

Possible he could hit the low double digits in SC though. I'm unsure who that would hurt though, Clinton or Sanders. On one hard, his voters would be White people (Sanders voters, lol) but on the other hand, they would not be liberals (Clinton voters). Probably a wash.

I don't think they appeal to the same crowd.    (Though I'm not exactly sure what crowd O'Malley does appeal to.)

Good for Hillary. Makes her the Goldilocks "not too liberal, not too conservative" candidate and might siphon some of the "anybody but Hillary" democrats away from Sanders.

Huh The ABH people who aren't in the Republican Party are voting against her because she is perceived as too conservative - not the other way around.

There's the Reddit crowd of "The Republicans are fascists, but don't take my guns or my paycheck" people. They'd never vote for Hillary, but they seem much more like Webb people than Sanders or O'Malley, and up to this point, they haven't had a candidate in the race.

So Webb as the official MRA bro candidate then.

Meh, I'm pretty sure that Reddit users are far more likely to get a chuckle out of Webb's low-quality exploratory announcement video with the "wwwwebb2016.com" and the Tim and Eric-esque "let's fix our country.........together" at the very end, than they are to vote for him, but we'll see.

He's almost like the Democratic equivalent of Jon Huntsman.

Huntsman was a darling of the media and of inside-the-Beltway types.

Webb is neither of these.

People who don't like Hillary but don't want to vote for a socialist, I'd think. There have to be at least some moderate/conservative Dems who don't like Hillary.

Possible VP nominee?

It's hard to see the Hillary Clinton winning Virginia and losing the Presidential election.

That's actually a fairly good logo. I was expecting something more like this:

These Democrats running are so similar to one another because unlike the Republicans, there is no moderate wing of the Democratic Party for the most part anymore. The reason Republicans like myself respect Senator Joe Manchin so much is because he is a conservative Democrat in a world where there are very few conservative Democrats.

Lincoln Chaffee has to talk about a vote he and Hillary Clinton took on Iraq in 2002, 13 years ago, to show a contrast between them. Martin O'Malley can't find a difference between himself and Clinton, so he attacks the notion of dynasties as opposed to any issue.

To be fair, there are two areas where these candidates differ. Senator Sanders supports European-style socialized medicine, where as the other candidates still support President Obama's failed health care law.

Also, Senator Webb and Senator Sanders both are more moderate than the others on gun control. They are also so similar that both wrote sick things about women years ago.

So, Jim Webb's entrance into this presidential race does not change a single thing: other than Senator Sanders running to everyone's left, the field of Democrats is a bunch of progressives trying to convince Americans we need more of the same failed policies of the last seven years.
