Andrew Bridgen (Conservative - North West Leicestershire)

Military and business background, anti-HS2. His initial election (in 2010) was probably made easier by the fact that the incumbent Labour MP, David Taylor, passed away a few months before the election.

Steve Brine (Conservative - Winchester)

Former local BBC reporter and President of his uni's Student Union (both somewhat unusual for a Tory MP).

James Brokenshire (Conservative - Old Bexley and Sidcup)

Current Minister of State for Immigration. His surname has probably been a fictional county in something or other.

Former MP for Hornchurch from 2005 to 2010, defeating Jon Cryer (not the American actor) - the seat has since been abolished.

Brokenshire is one of the most blatant careerist hacks in the Commons, and that's saying something. He's just beyond awful. The time he spent in the 2005-10 parliament desperately searching for a new seat and losing selection after selection was amusing, but then fat venal twat Derek Conway outdid himself in the venal twat stakes and...

Alan Brown (SNP - Kilmarnock and Loudoun)

A former Councillor. His victory was the first Scottish declaration of the night and was an accurate pointer to how it turned out overall.

Lyn Brown (Labour - West Ham)

Not as good as the previous MP for the seat.

Nick Brown (Labour - Newcastle upon Tyne East)

A staunch (Gordon) Brownite (no relation), he has served in various ministerial positions and has had several spells as Labour's chief whip. He was once a pointless answer on Pointless in a round where MPs with the first name Ed, David or Nick had to be named - Nick Brown was in fact a lucky guess.

Chris Bryant (Labour - Rhondda)

A former priest and an openly gay one at that. Was a Tory in his University days. Has served in the Shadow Cabinet since 2010; previously held minor frontbench positions when Labour were in government.

Richard Burden (Labour - Birmingham Northfield)

A rare example of a Left Labour MP in Birmingham. Opposed the Iraq War.

Leeds East has tended to pick candidates from the Right (there is a significant Irish Catholic element to the CLP) so Burgon's selection was kind of interesting. Anyway, he's one to watch.

Burden used to have a substantial personal vote (because of efforts wrt trying to save Longbridge), but I'm not sure if he does now: getting a bit long in the tooth and his interests have strayed a long way from his constituency. As such I was briefly worried about Northfield on election night given results elsewhere and its super swingy history, but for no reason as it happened.

Andy Burnham (Labour - Leigh)

Leader of the Labour Party and the Opposition Shadow Home Secretary. Twice a candidate for the Labour leadership; was seen as being more left-wing in his second bid than in his first. Served in several cabinet positions in the Brown government and has been a prominent shadow cabinet member since 2010. An Everton supporter, he is very popular in Merseyside for his role in fighting for justice for the victims of Hillsborough. Came from a very working-class background and went to Cambridge University.

Conor Burns (Conservative - Bournemouth West)

Chosen as a candidate of the A-List. Openly gay. Roman Catholic. Resigned as a PPS due to his opposition to the Lords Reform Bill. Unsuccessfully contested Eastleigh in both the 2001 and 2005 general elections.

Simon Burns (Conservative - Chelmsford)

Served as a minister during the last parliament. Really doesn't like John Bercow, having once called him a "stupid sanctimonious dwarf" and refused to shake his hand after taking the oath. Is a 'passionate supporter' of the U.S. Democratic Party, which probably says more about the Democratic Party than it does Burns.

David Burrowes (Conservative - Enfield Southgate)

Defeated Stephen Twigg in 2005 - one of the shocks of the night. Very much on the religious right of the party.

Amusing little tale:

Dawn Butler (Labour - Brent Central)

Only the third black female MP ever (after Diane Abbott and Oona King). Former advisor to Ken Livingstone. Served as a Minister in the latter days of the previous government. After representing Brent South from 2005-10 she failed at her first attempt in Brent Central (losing to Sarah Teather - who was good at achieving big swings) before easily gaining it this year. Was one of the MPs who nominated Jeremy Corbyn despite not openly supporting him.
