I would have to oppose current vivaportugal's amendment. Not that I oppose increasing the sin tax, it's just that it would be basically repeal my own amendment. I'm sure that wasn't vivaportugal's intention, but that would be the result .

Thus, I retract my previous amendment and offer this to the proposal at hand. Sorry, I was confused and amended the original instead of the other amendment. So, this raises sin taxes modestly and increases investment all across the board in key programs. With this, we help families, innovators, and all residents of the Mideast region.

Would anyone oppose if the marijuana tax would be the same than the cigarette tax?
I don't understand why it would be much lower than the cigarette tax.

VPH, I think you forgot to edit the total at the end of the expenditures section. It should read $282.72, not $278.98.

In any case, Representatives have 36 hours to object to Vivaportugalhabs amendment.


I would remind my fellow Representatives that, as the new rules require final votes to last 72 hours, we realistically need to conclude debate by the end of the week if we're going to get this passed by July 1 or else temporarily extend the 2014 budget.

I find that this budget is well crafted, and in the end helps families of the Mideast, the poor, and a variety of other groups. It is a great budget and I see no reason not to vote in favor of it.
