I'm really totally clueless as to whom I will vote for in the Dem primary here in NY. I strongly doubt however that it will be Hillary.

Hillary, though I have soft spot for Webb as he's from my home state.

No, I am a registered Democrat now for local reasons. I switched about a month ago as part of a registration drive in Bliss Towers, the local public housing project (about a block away from my home), where I was a volunteer doing some set up work and hosting. The Pub party here is noisome, and out to screw that certain Shining City On A Hill, known as Hudson to boot (county versus town). Plus my best buddy is the Chairman of the Dem Party in Hudson, or was, until he announced he was running for Common Council President. We run together. I'm am always open to new adventures Morden. Heck, I still have not decided what to really do with my life when I grow up. Any suggestions?

Eh, I assume sanders but his campaign annoys me. As I've said on AAD, it's very parochial and frivolous. I mean it's good someone is taking up the mantle who isn't a complete jerk like Edwards or O'Malley; but I dislike left-wing candidates who have little international scope.

It's America, baby. Having "little international scope" is even more American that apple pie really, or chicken fried steak in Oklahoma. Then they get to be POTUS, and learn on the job, and after a few misadventures, and maybe a war or two, they begin to get the hang of it.

Hillary. I've always liked her more than most and even if she isn't a true believer, she has to run and govern like she is. Sanders' campaign annoys me as well. It's funny how people get on Hillary for pandering to the Democratic base, when Sanders only started talking about immigration, guns, and race until after the media called him out for it. There are things that matter other than the economy, and even then, Sanders' economic agenda would go nowhere in Congress. A Sanders' presidency would be DOA from Day 1. I can't imagine foreign leaders respecting him or viewing him as their equal. When I imagine someone sitting in the Oval Office, it's not Bernie Sanders.

Boring is better than the alternative, an unelectable Socialist in the general election. Bernie has been an independent politician for the last 40 years and I can't grasp how he can be eligible for the Democratic Nomination since (as best I can tell) he has never been a member of the party.

Lucky then that the Democratic 'Party' is a machine rather than an actual party. Same goes for the GOP.

I think Sanders could hypothetically win a general election but I wouldn't argue that he's super electable either. Hillary does have him beat on that front. However, I think the benefits of Sanders winning the nomination and and moving the political debate to the left (even if he loses) FAR outweigh the modest benefits of a second President Clinton.

As of now, it's:
Clinton       -36 (42.4%)
Sanders       -35 (41.2%)
O'Malley       -0 (0%)
Webb       -11 (12.9%)
Chaffe       -3 (3.5%)
Other (explain)       -0 (0%)

A tremendous showing by O'Malley, as expected.

But as we know, it won'e be as simple as President Sanders=socialist dream. We need someone who can work with congress, someone who has experience in the white house. It's like thinking President Cruz could somehow cut back everything.

I mean heck, Hillary isn't that bad. 10 years ago she'd be considered on the liberal wing, and we'd be fighting off the nutjobs like Lieberman and Bayh.
