"Undocumented worker" is a garbage PC term when it is used to mean "illegal immigrant." It shouldn't mean the same thing, since not all illegal immigrants are undocumented workers, and yet people use it like it does.

However, even worse is using the term "illegal" without the term "immigrant" added to it. It's fine to say that people immigrated illegally if they did, but calling them "illegals" smacks of xenophobia. People aren't illegal.

Let's just say "illegal immigrant" please.

Horrific term. It only exists to divert attention from the criminality of illegal immigration.

It is a strange term out of context.  Undocumented by whom, and for what purpose is the documentation which has not been made?  There's nothing on it's face that would necessarily tie this term to immigration.

I imagine you aren't too happy with your own country's immigration policies, or those of most of Europe then.

Agreed. Put aside legal or moral arguments, and most "undocumented workers" actually have some documentation. While this American citizen is actually undocumented.

If you don't like "illegal immigrant", I can understand that. Immigrants, regardless of how they got here, are generally decent, hard-working folks looking for a better life. Despite the fact that they technically broke the law, I don't think it is quite right and honorable to label them as criminals, which is what the aforementioned term does. Besides, if that many people want to immigrate to the United States and our laws and policies are shaped such that it is easier to get in undocumented, then the law is stupid and it doesn't work. I don't think we're doing the right thing by labeling them as criminals for it.

For that matter, I think we've all broken a law at one time or another whether we're talking about traffic crimes, not feeding the parking meter, omitting something on your taxes, or what have you. You don't get to choose which laws warrant being labeled a criminal and which don't. I know that I certainly wouldn't appreciate it. These people are perfectly justified in wishing to secure the blessings of liberty for themselves and instead of jousting over technicalities, let us fix the real issue and streamline the immigration process so that these HUMAN BEINGS; let us not forget that part; can become documented and the rest of us can move on.

That being said, I think the term should be modified to 'undocumented immigrants'. That would be more accurate.

FI because it's better than 'illegal' or 'illegal immigrant,' but I agree that undocumented immigrant is a more accurate term.

Objectively correct, whether or not you like the term, given that a worker who enters the country illegally is, by definition, an undocumented worker.

At any rate, freedom term, because the alternative ('illegal aliens') is a loaded term that implies that some workers are worth less than others, which is a bunch of chauvinist garbage. Borders should be open.

Horrible term because because not all illegals are undocumented workers and not all undocumented workers are illegal.

I don't have a problem with it.  I also don't have a problem with "illegal immigrant."
