More charming religious radicalism from the "democratizing" country.

Not really relevant here as it's not a Israeli media bringing this article, but Al Jazeera, what's more relevant are that Qatar (the absolute monarchy Al Jazeera is based in and those royal family own Al Jazeera) ban marriage between Muslim women and non-Muslim men.

I don't know. But there is no such thing as civil marriage in Israel - it is purely a religious union. If you're Jewish, you have to marry according to halacha. If you're Muslim, you have to marry under Sharia law. If you're Christian, you follow the guidelines of your denomination. If you're not religious or want to marry someone of a different religion, you're SOL, which is why a lot of Israelis go to Cyprus to get married.

I have read somewhat up on the issue, it seem that what started the Rohingya conflict was a bunch of rapes by Muslim men of Buddhist women, it's claimed that these rapes was primary to ruin the women reputation to force them to marry the rapist or one of the rapists. Pakistanian medias claim that it was voluntary marriages. In this context this new law makes a lot of sense (... and no I don't support it, if that was your question).

It's called the millet system which we (and the rest of the ME) got from the Ottomans. Probably one of the most backward schemes a state can force on its citizens
