Thing is, his actual campaign only raised 11 million, around the same as the other major GOP candidates who have released so far.  While he's getting a truly huge amount of corporate backing, voters aren't quite so enthused.

This is very true. I'll be interested to see how the primary shakes up, I'm not convinced Jeb has a lock on the nomination.

Bush announced in mid June, so he only had 15 days to get 11 million, which on a per day basis is more than anyone, including Hillary. It remains to be seen if he can keep up that rate.

That being said, it is clear that Jeb will rely more on Super PAC money then regular money. Probably more so than any of the other candidates.

Not yet, because of his last name. There hardly exist a person in the world who's hated W more strongly than I have, yet I see Jeb for who he is, which is very clearly not his brother. By the way, I think their father did a great job as well. Most people consider him a failure just because there happened to be an economic downturn in 1992, but fact is that the first Iraq war, as far as wars go (and I hate them all) was the most successful in human history. Bush senior is a very smart guy, too bad his son W isn't. Though, luckily for us, Jeb obviously is.

They're too busy working long hours to give money to him.

The $11 million raised by his official campaign is more surprising to me. That's really an incredible amount for only two weeks. I'd like to see whether it was mostly big donors contributing to the $11 million number.

This might be a horrifically ignorant question, but are you not allowed to "donate" to a campaign until it's officially launched? The 11 million that bush raised, is that money that has only been raised since his actual entry?

All the people who said Bush had lost it hopelessly and wouldn't even meet his target.

I will say that Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney both raised an obscene amount of money in 2008 to no avail.
