Some good posts so far!

Since only Biden and Locke have posted on the Democratic side, I am hesitate to proceed until we get updates from Gates and Warren. I will contact those candidates and see what their timeframe looks like going forward before posting the update. The Republican side has been tabulated and is ready to go.

Governor Haslam would be open to discussing a possible endorsement from Bill Gates. He believes that he and Gates have several positions in common, and that he would be the best suited to receive the endorsement.

Round 6: January 31st - February 6th

Included in this round:
- Iowa Caucus (February 1st)

Coming Up:
- New Hampshire Primary (February 9th)

Please read through this post in its entirety.

The New York Times

Polling Update

NATIONAL REPUBLICAN

Ted Cruz - 25%
Bill Haslam - 15%
Bob Ehrlich - 14%
Scott Walker - 14%
John Kasich - 7%

A couple more candidates drop and Cruz continues to assert himself as the frontrunner in this race. Cruz currently leads in most states, with the remaining four candidates focusing on their respective regions in hopes that together, they can bring Cruz's numbers down. Nevertheless, Cruz is currently on track to put this primary away before it even begins.

NATIONAL DEMOCRAT
Joe Biden - 29%
Elizabeth Warren - 29%
Gary Locke - 22%

A tumultous two weeks for the Democrats saw a couple more candidates drop out, primarily frontrunner Kirsten Gellibrand. As a result, Vice President Biden and Senator Warren are currently deadlocked, with Gary Locke pulling in a respectable third. This race is completely up in the air.

IOWA REPUBLICAN

Ted Cruz - 28%
Scott Walker - 25%
Bill Haslam - 14%
Bob Ehrlich - 11%
John Kasich - 5%

Scott Walker received a major boost after picking up the endorsement of former candidate Terry Branstad, but drew flack later in the week by saying "Iowa picks corn, New Hampshire picks presidents" while at a rally in New Hampshire. Many find the statement odd, primarily because Walker also hails from the Midwest. Nevertheless, Cruz and Walker remain deadlocked in Iowa.

IOWA DEMOCRATIC

Joe Biden - 36%
Elizabeth Warren - 25%
Gary Locke - 20%

Joe Biden has catapulted into first in Iowa, with his retail politicking playing well with Iowa voters. He is expected to carry the Iowa caucus in a few days, though Warren and Locke aren't completely out of it.

NEW HAMPSHIRE REPUBLICAN

Bob Ehrlich - 22%
Ted Cruz - 17%
Scott Walker - 15%
Bill Haslam - 12%
John Kasich - 10%

A lot remain undecided in New Hampshire, as many Granite state voters still don't feel too comfortable with any of their choices, given how hectic the race has been to this point. New Hampshire remains up in the air.

NEW HAMPSHIRE DEMOCRATIC

Elizabeth Warren - 38%
Gary Locke - 27%
Joe Biden - 26%

Elizabeth Warren is in control in New Hampshire, with Locke and Biden currently battling for second. A second place finish could be necessary for Locke if he plans to stay in for the long haul.

Round 6 Debate Answer for Governor Haslam:

"I am a pro-life candidate. I value the life of the unborn, and they must be protected. However, I do not want to combat abortion the same way that we've been doing by directly going after Roe v. Wade. That won't stop abortion, and it will only antagonize people. Instead, we should place certain restrictions to reduce the number of abortions and encourage women to choose life instead. I support a national limit of no later than 20 weeks on abortion. Basically, no abortions after the second trimester. I support the idea of requiring minors under 18 to have parental consent from at least one parent before having an abortion. With reforms like these, we will actually save unborn lives and lower abortion. Furthermore, I want to fight abortion by supporting women's health. Apart from the 'Morning After' pill, which I do not condone, birth control merely prevents pregnancy; it does not terminate one. I do not support the employer mandate for birth control, but instead I would make it an over-the-counter medicine that would ergo not require a prescription. Women would be able to get the medicine they need more quickly and cheaply, employers would not be forced to cover a product they do not desire to cover, and most importantly, there would be fewer abortions."

Round 6 Campaign Schedule:

January 31st (Iowa):

- Meet with voters in Ames.
- Barnstorm in Cedar Rapids.
- Barnstorm in Waterloo.
- Barnstorm in Sioux.
- Last Day Rally in Des Moines, Iowa.

Rally Theme: Governor Haslam will give an address to supporters and undecideds alike in Iowa a day before the Iowa Caucus. He will reiterate that he is the best choice for President, and will continue to reiterate his stances on the issues. He will also appeal to undecideds, imploring them to vote for him, as he will hear their complaints and not mock them.

"Iowa picks more than just corn. It picks Presidents too. In fact, everyone in every of the 50 states picks the President. Your vote matters just as much as the votes of people in other states, and you should not feel ashamed or discouraged. I want to be everyone's President, not just President of one state. We are all Americans, and I will treat everyone equally as President, Iowans, New Hampshirite, and everyone else!"

February 1st (Iowa):

- Take the day off and watch the results of the Iowa Caucus at the Campaign HQ in Des Moines. Continue to send fliers, emails, phone calls, and other things to energize the base and woo any remaining undecideds.

February 2nd (New Hampshire):

- Barnstorm in Concord.
- Barnstorm in Exeter.
- Meet with voters in Portsmouth.
- Townhall in Plymouth.

February 3rd (Ohio):

- Organize in Columbus.
- Meet with voters in Columbus.
- Barnstorm in Canton.
- Barnstorm in Akron.
- Talk with college students at an Auditorium Speech at Cleveland State.

College Rally Theme: Governor Haslam will discuss the future of America with college students at Cleveland State. This rally will discuss a little of everything, but the main points will be on education, taxes, and the job market. He will state how he feels that the government is not acting in the best interests of young adults, and how he will turn things around as President. He will advertise that he is the best nominee for college students and fresh graduates in America.

"One of the biggest reasons I am running for President is to provide y'all, the upcoming future of this country, the means to succeed in life. Right now, your generation is being mistreated by the government, and it's been that way for a while. The educational system is being taken over by the federal government, at your expense. They want more control over your academic lives, and they do not care that they are depriving y'all of your chance to be competitive in the global economy. The government is keeping its hand in the economy in ways that it should not be, and it's making it increasingly difficult for everyone in your generation to find well-paying, fulfilling jobs. The federal government has prohibited economic growth so much that most young men and women find themselves underemployed or unemployed, and it should not be the case. I want to help y'all. If I'm elected President, then I will fight tooth and nail to give y'all the chance to succeed. You are our future, and your generation should no longer be hampered like it has been."

February 4th (South Carolina):

- Meet with voters in Charleston.
- Barnstorm in Myrtle Beach.
- Barnstorm in Rock Hill.
- Meet with voters in Greenville.
- Meet with voters in Columbia.

February 5th (Nevada):

- Barnstorm in Carson City.
- Townhall in Reno.
- Townhall in Nye County.
- Meet with voters in Las Vegas.

February 6th (South Carolina):

- Barnstorm in Greenville.
- Barnstorm in Rock Hill.
- Meet with voters in Sumter.
- Meet with voters in Columbia.
- Barnstorm in Mt. Pleasant.
- Hold Anti-Sanctuary Cities Rally in Charleston.

Rally Theme: Although the rally will begin with some general remarks and some generic immigration discussion, Governor Haslam will blast the existence of sanctuary cities for the majority of the rally. He will remark that while it's been an issue long before the Obama administration, it is a shame that no one in the government has done anything to stop them. He will argue that allowing these cities to harbor illegal immigrants only makes cities more dangerous and expensive for legal citizens, and that they are a direct violation of the lawfulness of the country.

"What saddens me is that these cities harbor illegal immigrants at the expense of everyone else. Illegal immigration is a crime, obviously, so why would it be expected that these lawbreakers would obey any other law? As long as sanctuary cities continue to be sanctuary cities, Americans, both natural born and naturalized, suffer. In fact, I see the existence of sanctuary cities to be a huge reason in why it has become difficult to properly handle the illegal immigration crisis. As President, I would work with Congress to get legislation passed that would ban cities to establish themselves as illegal immigrant sanctuaries. Doing so is an important first step towards solving immigration in America."

(Round 6 Endorsements will be requested via PM to the DM as instructed.)

"Tomorrow is our chance to begin to turn this country around. This is our moment, this is our time. We cannot let it pass, Barack Obama and the Democrats have savaged this country, they've driven us into debt, they've bankrupted our children and they've buried us in bureaucracy. I am ready and I am up for the task, I am only asking you to join with us and believe. Iowa you can make it happen. You, right here can help begin to turn the page on Barack Obama's disastrous presidency and put America back onto a path of greatness."

Walker Debate Response
"I believe Roe v. Wade should be overturned. I respect and defend the right to life. I believe a culture of life is what we as a society should champion. I know the Democrats like to paint this as being anti-choice or against women, but I ask the Democrats what is wrong with being for and standing up for life. I am pro-life and proud to be pro-life."

Debate Question: What is the candidates position on abortion?

This turn will be open 72 hours. Please PM me for endorsements. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Response to Debate Question :

I am Pro Choice. However I believe that being Pro Choice.... You have to include every possible choice. You know I was meeting with the Catholic Bishop of Sacramento a while back, and what the diocese decided to is to give the mom a job,  job training, a chance for the mother to get back on her feet. That is what we should do for the whole country. And you know what ? The economy improves. We should also have Universal Child Care.... so that the mother can put in a few more bucks knowing that her child is well cared for. And after all of that, the mother decides to abort, we will offer one last choice. Adoption.

My Schedule will come later.

"I am pro-choice. If I want my rights, no matter if I believe something to be sinful - I must let women have their rights. Abortion is 100% wrong according to Catholic doctrine. However, as my faith is above politics, so must my politics be separate from faith. That is because of one little thing called separation of church and state."
- Debate response

________________________________________________________________

"This election, we have a clear choice. A choice between extremism or inexperience or honesty, experience, and hope. Throughout the years, we have heard negativity, extremism, and criticism.

[clip: 15 secs. indistinct, "Bill Clinton... Most immoral President ever.", "George W. Bush, the Destructor of the economy." "Barack Obama is the most liberal President since L. B. J... A proponent of socialism..." "Economis starting to fail...", etc, etc.

The camera shifts to the Vice President. "Hello there. I'm Vice President Joe Biden. I want to inspire hope again. I've had many tragedies in my life. Some of my opponents would point out that my political career started with the tragedy of losing my wife. Maybe, they say, it should end with the tragedy of losing my son.

"I disagree. America started with many tragedies. Oppression. Riots for freedom that ended with death. That is how oppression ended. Not how America will end if ever. This great country of ours was started by a great tragedy. Since the beginning, America and I have had many tragedies. America will end a few years after a tragedy.

"After that, I guarantee it will end, not on a tragedy, but on a great act. That is how I hope to end. As after this nation passes on, the idea, indeed, America itself will live on. The American idea will live on - that is what America is. After my physical body passes on, I hope I will live on. As America lives on, I hope my idea, the Biden Idea, will live on. Lifting up others, fighting for the people, and refusing to say no. That is how I hope to end. Will you help me?"

Narrator: "Joe Biden - the people's candidate for President."

"I'm Joe Biden, and I approve this message."

I'll have my full schedule up tomorrow or Thursday at maximum.
Can I ask for an extention?

Thank you Governor, we will hope to represent your message well.

Okay, considering only two individuals have posted their schedule so far and we have had another drop out, I want to conduct a poll...

Yes or No: should we continue with this timeline?

At this point, my vote is "no" but I will continue if there is a strong desire to.

I'd like to continue, but if we don't, then no hard feelings.
