We must have a military so great and so reliable no other nation or foe would dare try to rattle us. We must be the envy of the world, with a renewed commitment in our efforts to be a beacon of freedom and liberty, and we must stand firm with our allies like Israel and against our adversaries like Russia. I am willingly to work hand-in-hand with anyone who wishes to a friend to America, but I will not tolerate any nation or adversaries who dares challenge America's superiority as the world's superpower. Our position is clear: You are either with us or against us. America must take the lead and guide this world into a better tomorrow..."

"I'm Scott Walker, Governor of the great state of Wisconsin. Since 2011 I've stood up to the big union bosses, the liberal elites and even many in my own party, not for political points, but because it is right. Campaign Ad: Bill Haslam - Optimism and Common Sense

This campaign ad is a television ad and will premiere in the following states:

The ad takes place in a modest office room. Haslam is sitting at a desk, remaining calm, composed, and soft-spoken. The Governor smiles softly at the camera and begins speaking.

"Good evening, my fellow Americans. I am Governor Bill Haslam of Tennessee, and I want to serve you as President. You know, this nation is hurting, and it needs help. I could yell at the top of my lungs and preach doom and gloom, but that will not move America forward. Americans are tired of hearing pessimism from both parties, as they know all pessimism will do is sour America's spirit as a whole. If America is going to rebound, it needs a jolt of optimism combined with common sense solutions. As Governor of Tennessee, I have provided my state with both. Now I want to do the same for America. Yes, America, times are tough, but we will prevail, together. As President, I will put the people of this great nation first. America deserves to be great again, and I am the man that will make it so."

Governor Haslam ends his first ad on a positive tone. He aims to instill a sense of optimism to offer an alternative to the overbearing negativity that has plagued America's political landscape.

(Reminder: I have already written Round 2's Campaign Schedule. It is on Page 5. On request, I will delete this post and merge the ad with my campaign schedule if the game admin desires.)

This campaign ad is being played in the following states

"Terry Branstad has stood and fought for Iowa, he made the state better than it's ever been before, can any other candidate say that. They can't, Governor Branstad has worked with everybody Republicans, Democrats and Independents to make Iowa a better place. He's got rid of common core, lowered taxes, brought industry and jobs back to Iowa, if you want that are you ready to stand like Terry Branstad has?"

So Senator, you have to have some favorite teams, right?

Well, I happen to be a Yankees fan...but isn't everybody?

Do you believe it's a waste of taxpayer money to be prosecuting Lance Armstrong, essentially for PED usage?

No, I don't, because the usage of HGH and Steroids by those not intended for them is a federal crime, and someone like Armstrong, who betrayed so many after his Tour de France victories deserves more than a slap on the wrist.

Any predictions for the upcoming MLB Postseason stretch drive?

Call me crazy, but I think we'll have another Subway Series!

Finally, will you continue President Obama's tradition of making NCAA Basketball brackets every March?

Sure, even if it drives my VP crazy.

Today's America has lost sight of what Jesus would do in our world. He wouldn't deport children of Illegal Immigrants. He wouldn't let people die in senseless wars, and I doubt he'd care whether a woman could have an abortion, or whether two individuals of the same gender could get married. We've lost sight of this in a hyper-partisan atmosphere, and if we're supposed to be a "Christian Nation", a "City on a Hill, we need to get back to the basics of what he preached...love and tolerance for all.

Ted Cruz for President: Endorsements

Senator Mike Lee: Cruz is a fighter
I have had the honor of serving with Ted in the US Senate. When it comes to fighting for conservative principles, no one does it better than Ted Cruz. We need a President who stands up for the conservative ideals that Reagan championed in the 1980's. Ted Cruz has been doing that his whole life and will continue to do that as the 45th President of the United States. I am proud to endorse him for President and look forward to appearing on the campaign trail for him.
- Senator Mike Lee at a press conference in Salt Lake City, Utah

Senator Tim Scott: Cruz is my guy
When the race started out, I intended on holding out for a while before making an endorsement - South Carolina plays a crucial role in determining who our nominee is, and I don't want to get it wrong. With that being said, there is a candidate in this race who I have had the pleasure of working with in Senate and who was able to convince me last week in a meeting that he is the right man for the job. That candidate is Ted Cruz, and I am proud to endorse him for the Republican nomination. Ted Cruz is a fighter. He is someone who will get the job done and will never stop fighting for conservative principles. I know he is the candidate that is best for South Carolina and the United States.
- Senator Tim Scott, speaking at a rally in South Carolina with Ted Cruz

King and Vander Plaats: Cruz is the candidate for social conservatives
Looking at this field, one candidate sticks out among the rest, and that candidate is Ted Cruz. We have a lot of respect for Governor Branstad, but when it comes to conservative issues, he simply doesn't have the credentials that Senator Cruz has. We want a President who has been a consistent leader on conservative issues, particularly when it comes to defending religious liberty and the right to life. Senator Cruz has been that voice in Washington D.C. since he got there, and I know he will always be an advocate for the unborn if he becomes President.

Iowa has a history of caucusing for social conservatives - we hope it will do the same in 2016. We look forward to helping Ted Cruz win the Iowa caucus, the Republican nomination, and ultimately the Presidency.

- Congressman Steve King and activist Bob Vander Plaats, releasing a joint statement

UPDATE TIME!

Hi, everyone! Cheesy Thanks for getting your Round 3 stuff in!

Recently, I've been getting some feedback from experienced ITLers (this is my first one) so I've decided to perhaps change a few rules in order to make the ITL experience better for everyone!

1. You may now use phone calls for endorsements; you no longer have to be in the person's state.

2. I know that the poll numbers between Rounds 1 and 2 changed pretty radically; that's my fault (it's really hard making polls!) and I'll try to make them more consistent/less extreme in the future when it comes to changes.

3. How would you guys think about making it two weeks per round instead of one? I personally like our current format but I've heard that some people think it will take too long. For now, we'll keep it one week per round (my preferred way) but if you guys come to a consensus then I'll think about changing it.

Please PM me with all your feedback/questions! Cheesy

Thanks!

We are excited to introduce our first television ad - we chose to go straightforward, because that is how Ted Cruz has always been. None of the video theatrics - those may come later, but not provides us the opportunity for Ted to directly talk with the American people. A chance to introduce himself and what he brings to the table. We're excited to air this advertisement in the states shown below, and we look forward to watching our momentum grow in the coming weeks. This advertisement will run for several cycles.
- Rick Tyler, National Spokesperson

Ted Cruz Television Advertisement: Get the Job Done

Ted Cruz:The reason I am running for President is because there are so many Americans out there who are still struggling. Our workforce has shrunk during the Obama administration and many who are working live paycheck to paycheck. Republicans and Democrats both love America, but it's time for real leadership in the White House. We need a President who is ready to go in there and get the job done. I'm Ted Cruz, and I will be that President.

Alright, guys! I've gotten some feedback and it seems like the consensus is that we should expand each round to two weeks. However, we'll probably go back to one when the primaries start and things get real busy.

If you disagree with this new policy or have any other questions/feedback, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Thanks! Cheesy

How will the two week cycle affect our endorsement cap?

I am yet to determine this, though I'll get back to you ASAP! Cheesy

From the feedback I've been getting, it seems like I've been giving out endorsements a bit too generously (I gave out a lot of big names the first week). To solve this, I'll probably make it so you have a maximum of 10 per round, meaning that you have 10 per every two weeks instead of 10 per every one week.

But remember, you no longer have to be in the same state as the person you want to endorse you in order to get their endorsement!

Alright. Do we still have 72 hours per turn?

Yes, that's the only way to shorten the time it will take to complete the game. But don't worry, all you'll have to do is add a few more events to your schedule! Smiley

Cheesy

Thanks!
When does the next round start?

When does the next round start?

The 72 hours for Round 2 end around midnight tonight; I'll give 24 hours more to those who still need it.

After that, Round 3 will be up ASAP. Smiley

Statement from the Rubio campaign.
Due to shifting political winds, Senator Rubio will be ending his presidential campaign and will endorse Governor Scott Walker for President; Senator Rubio will instead focus his efforts on winning reelection to the United States Senate in 2016.
