Radio Ad in Iowa.

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a Christian. But you don't need to be in the pews every Sunday to know there's something wrong with America when the person I'm parodying was indicted and when members of my own party call me a heretic for wanting to help poor Ohians. I understand you Iowans are god-fearing citizens who want a man from the heartland like me. I'm John Kasich, and I approve this message.

Ad Airing in IA, NH, FL, MI, NV, SC, MO, Al, and AR.

John Kasich,

Born poor in western Pennsylvania,

witnessed his Parent's death in car crash,

Congressman against all odds,

Cold War Experience,

architect of the first balanced budget in almost 30 years,

Governor of one of the best run states in America.

The Man we need in the White House.

Bob Ehrlich answering reporters questions during a campaign stop in New Hampshire

Reporter: "Mr. Governor, some candidates like Representative Ryan, Businessman Donald Trump and Governor Quayle have dropped out of the race and the latest two have endorsed Senator Cruz, that is considered by many analysts as your bigger opponent in the race. Governor Bush also dropped out but endorsed democrat Bill Gates. What are your reactions?"
Ehrlich: "Well, first of all let me thank the candidates that have dropped out for their contribution of ideas to our primary. That contribution of ideas is important for our party. I have respect toward Governor Bush, but let me say that I was surprised of his endorsement and I don't think it's the right way to help our party win the White House again.
Nothing of personal against Senator Cruz, but I don't think he is the right person to win in a general election. We don't need an extreme and divisive candidate and unfortunately I think Senator Cruz is that kind of candidate."

Reporter: "Senator Cruz blamed you for your pro-choice positions on abortion. What is your position on that issue, a bigger issue for GOP voters?"
Ehrlich: "I have to admit that it's a though issue. Personally, I consider my self pro-life. But at the same time I think there should be exceptions for the whole period of pregnancy in case of rape, incest and when the mother's health is at risk. Personally, I support women's rights to abortion in the first trimester, while I don't support that rights from the second trimester to the end of pregnancy."

Mini-Update!

Hey, guys!

The quality of your work is amazing and it's really awesome that you've decided to start interacting with each others' statements/actions, etc.

Recently, I've been talking with some experienced ITLers over PM and we've decided that one of the reasons for all the drop-outs is probably because the ITL started so early and will last so long. Because of this, we've decided to fast forward a little. We're currently in Round 2, this will be the schedule for the rest of the primaries if you guys like it:

Round 3 - A very brief summary of your candidates' campaign between July 15 and January 9. The way this round will work will be explained in full when it starts.

Round 4 - January 10 to 16; is a debate week.

Round 5 - January 17 go 23; normal week.

Round 6 - January 24 to 30; normal week.

Round 7 - Iowa!

I hope this new schedule increases everyone's interest in the game and helps keep everyone in! If you have ANY comments, questions, or concerns whatsoever please do PM me! Cheesy

Also, I'm going to start a pretty cool news segment at the beginning of each round in order to make things more interesting.

Once more, please PM me with your questions/thoughts on the new changes.

"I think it's strange how Jeb Bush endorsed a Democrat in Bill Gates. I've been around long enough to know what I'm doing, but not too long where I've grown restless, and out of touch with the people."

"Rand Paul is the best candidate for the job, because unlike big-government politicians who just pay lip service to the base, Rand actually believes what he says! His record of standing for limited government is second to none, and in this era of massive federal control over our lives, that's badly needed."

" We are not doing well. " Hepburn said in Locke's weekly staff meeting, " Bill Gates just got a endorsement from Jeb Bush ! "

" What does that show ? " Sarah asked Hepburn, " Bush is corrupt, All the money men supporting Bush now are giving money to Gates ! "

" Everyone just calm down. " Locke said, " We are doing well in the polls so far. All we have to do, is expose Gates as a Political Novice.... Governors are always better.

Everyone nodded their heads. Paul Chen then stood up and said, " New Hampshire, and Washington. Those are the two states we must focus on, and we are doing pretty well with Asian voters.

Scott Walker Interview: Megyn Kelly

Kelly: You've been critical of your prospective Democratic candidates, what would you say is the biggest difference?

Walker: They're socialists. They may not all admit, but their policies are the same kind of big government approach we've seen for the last six years.

Kelly: Why should Republicans nominate you over others in the large field?

Walker: Because I've done what many of the people are talking about. I've taken on the unions and won. I've taken on the liberal bosses and won. I've taken on entitlements and we've reformed them. Most the candidates in this race are talkers, I'm a man of action. I've done what others have promised. We don't need another Barack Obama again. We nee a doer, that's why I want to be the Republican nominee.[/b]

Kelly: Which candidates stand out in your mind, as people who are talkers?

Walker: I don't really want to name names.

Kelly: Governor, you cannot go around saying some people are talkers and equating them to Barack Obama --

Walker: Megyn, I'm not going to play your game of attacking my fellow Republicans. I'll let the voters decide who are the talkers in the race. The American people are smart enough to make that decision on their own. I'm more concerned with taking on the likes of Elizabeth Warren, who in my estimation would be the worst of the Democrats and an absolute disaster. She's going around talking about campaign finance reform, when in actuality we should be talking about how to get this economy not just moving but growing again.

Kelly: You'll stand by that statement?

Walker: Absolutely, she would be the worst of the Democrats. A disaster for the country, but I think of all the Republican candidates and if she's the nominee I'll offer the best contrasts. Her liberal proposals, versus my conservative, proven solutions.

Round 3 - Introduction

Hi, everyone! Cheesy

Welcome to Round 3! I apologize for the egregiously long wait; I was quite busy this week due to starting at a new school and take full responsibility for how annoying the wait must have been.

Due to a lot of feedback I've been receiving, I've decided (with most of your support) to change our campaign schedule around a little bit. Here's our new schedule:

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

As you can see, this round will cover January 3 through January 9, though will also include a short summary of your candidates' activities between the end of Round 2 and the beginning of this Round. Please feel free to submit any extra advertisements, speeches, etc. as well; they will be extremely helpful in improving your standing in the polls.

NOTE: Please consider that I base your poll numbers off of your schedules, advertisements, speeches, and other information that you submit. If you aren't doing well in the polls, please don't be scared - instead, you can easily improve your numbers by having a detailed plan for your candidate's campaign in the next round. Smiley

If you have ANY questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me! Cheesy

______

News:

Cruz and Ehrlich Lead GOP; Democratic Nomination Toss-Up

According to our most recent polling numbers, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and former Governor Bob Ehrlich (R-MD) have maintained their statuses as front-runners in the GOP presidential nomination, with Senator Cruz polling nationally at 19%, followed closely by Governor Ehrlich at 16%. Both of these candidates are known widely for their aggressive and intricate campaign styles, with Ehrlich's campaign success manifesting itself recently in the campaign's successful attempt to gain the endorsement of 2012 GOP nominee and former Governor Mitt Romney. Meanwhile, Governors Bill Haslam and Terry Branstad are also doing quite well in the primary race, polling at 13% and 11%, respectively. Haslam has recently become well-known for his ability to attract the endorsements of a variety of prominent Southern politicians, while Branstad continues to maintain a healthy polling lead in his home state of Iowa, an early caucus state that is often extremely important in the presidential nomination process.

In the Democratic nomination, polls continue to indicate a four-way tossup race, with business magnate Bill Gates, former Governor Gary Locke, and Senators Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand each polling well in the most recently-released nationwide survey. While Gates maintains a slight lead with 26% of Democratic primary voters backing his campaign, Locke comes in at a close third with 23%. Gillibrand and Warren tie for third at 21%, clearly indicating a toss-up race that could go in any direction in the upcoming weeks. Meanwhile, the campaigns of Al Gore and Joe Biden seem to have hit significant roadblocks, with apparent hiatuses in campaigning by both of the Vice Presidents taking a toll on their polling numbers.

This Week in Endorsements

This week in endorsements has seen a surprisingly high number of prominent Governors, Congresspeople, and other politicians enter the arena of presidential candidate support. While former Governor Bob Ehrlich (R-MD) scored big-time by receiving the endorsement of 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, Bill Haslam continued his scorched-earth endorsement campaign in the South, picking up the endorsements of Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Richard Burr (R-NC), Roger Wicker (R-MS), and Jeff Sessions (R-AL), as well as those of former Senators Zell Miller and Saxby Chambliss of Georgia. However, Haslam was unable to score the endorsement of prominent Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran, who instead opted to throw his support behind Ohio Governor John Kasich.

Most notably this week were the endorsement flamewars of Nevada and South Carolina, where congresspeople and statewide officials conflicted over who to put their support behind in the 2016 presidential race. The Republican portion of Nevada's congressional delegation found itself split down the middle, with Senator Dean Heller and Representative Cresent Hardy choosing to endorse Governor Bob Ehrlich and Representatives Mark Amodei and Joe Heck endorsing Senator Ted Cruz. The extent of this conflict was paralleled in South Carolina, where Republican Representative Mick Mulvaney, who endorsed Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa, and former Democratic Representative John Spratt, who endorsed Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, getting into a heated Twitter argument over which candidate deserved to win the election (in 2010, Mulvaney defeated incumbent Spratt in the congressional race for South Carolina's 5th Congressional District).

Meanwhile, on the Democratic side of the endorsement bonanza, Governor Gary Locke received the endorsement of former Vice President Walter Mondale, while both Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Elizabeth Warren picked up a variety of endorsements from the northeast and around the nation.

______

Thanks, everyone, and good luck in Round 3! Cheesy

Elizabeth Warren Announcement and Speech in Los Angeles, California:

Hello California! *cheers*

I want to first thank you very much for inviting me to your wonderful state here on the bay of the Great Pacific Ocean! It's great to be here in California, I love the people, the food, and your politics *chuckles*. But many people across the country don't have the opportunities that you have here, some state and local governments have the intent on cutting the education for their young people. That's a problem. America, when our youth are coming out of college hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt because they want to know how to help save lives, that's a problem. And when 1 family can count for more than 1 person, 1 vote because they make more money, that's a problem. But some people don't see it that way, some people think that by 1 person giving billions of dollars to a candidate that will give them services while in office, that that is "free speech". Well for those people here today, or across the country, Free speech is free, not worth your billions. *cheers from the audience* Now one of the people who doesn't like the idea of one person - one vote, is Scott Walker. *boos from the audience* Now, now, isn't all bad, he paid me a complement recently. By calling me the opposite of him he doesn't know what a relief that is. And when he criticizes my priorities and policies I know I am heading on the right direction, because he is about as far off from helping real Americans as I can imagine. If Governor Walker would like to put his conservatives principles against my liberal ones, then I we may need air these issues before the public. I now challenge Governor Walker, the DNC, and the RNC to help show the American People the error of Governor Walker's positions. I hope I hear back from him, because he may want to hide from his "principles" but it's time we bring them into the light.

Thank You and Goodnight!

Scott Walker Responds to Elizabeth Warren

"I hear the Senator from Massachusetts is interested in having a debate of ideas, our conservative policies versus her failed liberal ones, well challenge accepted. I say bring it on. Let's have a debate. Let's show the American people which side has the better solutions and ideas for America's future."

Manchester Mayor Endorses Scott Walker: "He's a principled, effective leader!"
"I am so grateful and appreciative for Mayor Ted Gatsas' support of my campaign. He understands the importance for conservative principles and applying them in the bluest of areas. He is a champion for the people of Manchester and I welcome his endorsement." -- Scott Walker, in Manchester, NH

"Rand Paul is telling people that he's an isolationist and wants to keep America out of foreign affairs.  Either he hasn't been listening to the news lately, or he isn't doing his job as a Senator, because Congress is about to make a bad deal with Iran that lets them get nuclear weapons.  This is a terrorist state that has vowed to destroy both America and Israel, and Rand Paul wants us to ignore them.  You can't be an isolationist when the security of the whole world is at stake.  Iran needs to know, and the whole world needs to know, that America will not tolerate nuclear weapons in the hands of rogue terrorist regimes, and when I'm president, we will send that message loud and clear."

"Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren are part of the same failed policies that Barack Obama has pushed for the last eight years.  They believe in the same big-government socialist welfare state that he does, and if either one of them is elected, they will ensure that his policies become irreversible.  Starting on day one, we need a president who will undo President Obama's extreme agenda by repealing and replacing Obamacare, cutting taxes, cutting spending, and strengthening our national defense against terrorism.  But we can't have that if our party nominates an unelectable candidate.  To govern, we have to win.  I can take on Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren, and I can defeat them."

"Former Governor, Wife of President, Extreme Senator, *mumbled news reports*"

"Who can really move this country towards progress, to a brighter tomorrow? Who is going forwards for the people?" A woman narrates. "Meet Joe Biden."

Joe turns to the camera and gives his standard grin. "I have been the Vice President. Trying to balance the President with a Senate I knew so well has been a difficult job. During my thirty years in the Senate, I learned how to fight for progress, and a brighter future for tomorrow. I wish the other candidates understood this. I'm not running myself. I'm running for the people, by the people, of the people."

"I remember how I came to my current position on some issues. One day, walking on the street, I saw two men kissing. I turned and looked at my dad. He looked at me, and I can remember the tone of his voice as he said to me, 'Joe, that is love. Do not mistake it for sin.'"

"Joe Biden stands for progress to a brighter future, for the people, by the people, of the people. To bring Americs into unity, support Joe Biden. Biden has bided his time long enough; now it is time to unite the country. Joe Biden: The Honest People's Candidate."

This ad is payed for by the political action committee Americans for Honest Joe.

Miniature Update!

Warren-Walker Debate!

Hi, everyone! Smiley These are the rules and questions for the private debate between Elizabeth Warren and Scott Walker. Remember that you are allowed to request a private debate between you and other candidates. Note that if you are not one of the two candidates participating, you are welcome to start another private debate on your own!

Rules:

- There will be four questions that both candidates must answer, three just for Warren, and three just for Walker.

- Feel free to post rebuttals for your opponent's answers (I strongly recommend doing so).

- This debate will be widely watched and will hence have a sizeable impact on the polls, so do your best! Smiley

Questions for Both Candidates:

1. If given the opportunity to appoint a justice or justices to the Supreme Court during your term in office, will there be any litmus tests for potential appointees? If so, what will they be?

2. Do you believe that our nation should have a mandatory minimum wage, and if so, do you believe that it should be raised from its current level? Why or why not?

3. If elected President, how do you plan to lower America's national debt? Will you do so by cutting government programs, and if so, which ones? Will you do so by raising taxes, and if so, on who?

4. Do you believe that all people born within our nation's borders should be entitled to citizenship rights? Why or why not?

Questions for Senator Warren:

1. Senator Warren, if I'm not mistaken, you are an adamant opponent of the death penalty. If your husband, Bruce Mann, was tortured and murdered in cold blood, would you even consider supporting the death penalty for his killer?

2. Senator Warren, a recent Gallup poll revealed that 49% of Americans disapprove of President Obama's job performance, with only 46% approving. In what ways will you be different than President Obama if elected next November?

3. Senator Warren, recently, your press secretary stated in a press release that you support "mandatory GMO labeling," saying that GMOs can present a major health risk to consumers. However, in a recent poll of scientists in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, it was revealed that a whopping 88% of scientists believe that GMOs, are, in fact, safe to eat. How can you claim that the GOP is the anti-science party when one of your party's positions seems to counter general scientific consensus?

Questions for Governor Walker:

1. Governor Walker, in 2013, a study conducted by the Global Change Institute at the University of Queensland in Australia revealed that a stunning 97.2% of scientists believe that global warming is real and caused by human actions. Do you agree with the vast majority of scientists regarding this matter? What will you do as president to combat climate change?

2. Governor Walker, recently, you have released a number of statements condemning the Iran nuclear weapons deal proposed by President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry. Many of your fellow opponents of the deal argue against the deal on the premise that a nation that expresses such negative feelings towards the United States should not be trusted to protect our interests. How can you believe this if, at the same time, the United States is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, a nation in which the government-endorsed school textbooks say that "Jews and the Christians are enemies of the [Muslim] believers"?

3. Governor Walker, you are well known for being a prominent opponent of abortion. If your wife, Tonette Walker, was raped and impregnated, would you force her to carry her baby to term even if doing so would put her life at severe risk?

January 3, 2016

Meet Voters at Shooters Bar & Grill, Ossian, Iowa (With Chet Culver and Tom Harkin)

Speech at South Winneshiek High School, Calmar, Iowa (With Bruce Braley, Tom Harkin and Patty Judge)

The reality is, Americans are falling behind the world in Science and Math, because we have traded our exceptionalism for fatalism, our willingness to do the work required to get rich, to taking unnecessary, lazy, and dangerous shortcuts, and above all, we have let the almighty dollar rule us instead of ruling it. This has to change if we are to remain competitive economically with China, and survive future economic catastrophes.

Phone conversation with Shirley Franklin (Seeking endorsement)

January 4, 2016

Tour Gramolini's Meat Market, East Kingston, New Hampshire (With John Lynch)

Appearance on New Day (From, East Kingston, New Hampshire)

So, what is your take on Mr. Gates candidacy?

Frankly, it feels like he's trying to buy the Presidency. While that might not be his actual intent.. anytime someone with his net worth ran, that's what it'll look like to the average voter.

Does the endorsement from Jeb Bush help him should he win the nomination?

No. Conservatives don't like the Bushes, Liberals don't like the Bushes, many independents don't like the Bushes... It's not going to help him a bit.

So you don't think he can win the nomination?

No, I don't...and if he does, he's going to have to spend a lot more than he is right now.

Coming up next... Newt Gingrich and Donna Brazile on the Walker/Warren debate, and who they expect the winner to be.

Meet Voters at Chickadee Hill Cakes, Sandown, New Hampshire (With John Lynch)

(OOC Note: Since I have made some time, I will go ahead and post my weekly schedule. Either tomorrow or Tuesday, I will explain a summary of what my candidate has done in the interim.)

Round 3 Schedule

January 3rd (South Carolina):

- Barnstorm in Sumter.
- Barnstorm in Columbia.
- Barnstorm in Greenville.
- Barnstorm in Rock Hill.

January 4th (Florida):

- Barnstorm in the suburbs of Tallahassee.
- Meet with voters in Gainesville.
- Townhall in Jacksonville.
- Seek endorsement from Congressman David Jolly.
(Governor Haslam will continue to build his stronghold in the South. He will test his waters with endorsements in Florida.)
- Seek endorsement from Former Senator Mel Martinez.
(Haslam is using the same strategy with Former Senator Martinez.)

January 5th (Iowa):

- Meet with voters in Des Moines.
- Townhall in Ames.
- Hold 2nd Amendment Rally in Iowa City.

Rally Theme: Governor Haslam will reaffirm in his belief in the Second Amendment. He will explain that the Second Amendment is not only a badge of honor for the American people, but it is what protects us from tyranny. He will also appeal to gun owners, promising them that he will protect their constitutional rights as President. Finally, he will explain why he does not support gun control measures, seeing them as not only infringement, but as ineffective.

Rally Excerpt: "Our right to bear arms does not hurt the people of this nation. In fact, that right keeps us safer than we would be without it. Despite what the left claims, gun control measures hurt the American people. Gun control proponents claim to mean well, but the reality is that heavy restrictions on firearms, clips, magazines, and so on only create more problems, not solutions. These new laws only empower criminals and endanger law-abiding citizens. I know I speak for everyone here when I say that law-abiding citizens of this country are sick of their Second Amendment rights being peeled away. Violation of the Second Amendment only leads to more crime, less safety, less liberty, and more governmental tyranny. I want to be a President who lowers crime, makes us safer, gives us more freedom, and keeps away tyranny. The only way to ensure that is to protect our gun rights!"
- Seek endorsement from Wayne LaPierre.
(Governor Haslam will seek an endorsement from LaPierre after his Pro-Second Amendment Rally. He will use his pro-gun record as Governor and his speech earlier to his advantage.)

January 6th (Nevada):

- Barnstorm in Carson City.
- Townhall in Reno.
- Meet with voters in Nye County.
- Barnstorm in Las Vegas, Nevada.

January 7th (New York City):

- Interview with Sean Hannity.

Interview Theme: Governor Haslam will discuss his social, economic, and foreign policy platforms in a basic and standard interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. Haslam will remain cordial and professional and will avoid confrontation any we he can. This will be a test with how he conducts himself with journalists and if he needs to change strategies with them. He wants to remain positive with the media, as he believes their image of him will greatly affect his campaign. As such, he will be brief, polite, willing to answer questions, and professional.

Governor Haslam on air during his Hannity interview.

January 8th (Tennessee):

- Governor Haslam will take the day off to spend time with his family. He has no scheduled activities for this day. -

January 9th (New Hampshire):

- Organize in Concord.
- Barnstorm in Concord.
- Meet with voters in Dover.
- Meet with voters in Portsmouth.
- Seek endorsement from Senator Susan Collins.
(Governor Haslam will attempt to branch out and get a Northeastern endorsement as well. Haslam will praise Collins' record in the Senate, and will also recognize her for being willing to work across the aisle. He will also remind her that he claims to be the most reasonable and least brash nominee in the race.)
- Seek endorsement from Paul LePage.
(Haslam will use similar tactics to woo Governor LePage in order to receive a Northeastern opening. He will use more conservative language with the Governor, however.)

(Again, I will post my summary of before January separately.)
