FF, on balance. I'm sure he's unpopular here however for his moderate hero status.

I'm curious as to why you put Mr. Nixon on a pedestal, yet hate the dreaded Rockefeller. I know my reasons, I'm wondering about yours.
Nixon was a man who was handed absolutely nothing. He was fueled by pure ambition and drive. Rockefeller just wanted another fancy title for his resume. Nixon was a man with a vision. Rocky had no such thing.

Nelson Rockefeller once destroyed an entire neighborhood in Albany because he was embarrassed when a visiting princess glimpsed the area's less then perfect condition.  He had it destroyed and replaced with the monstrous brutalism of Empire State Plaza

FF.

Yes,  FF.  Why?  Because if it wasn't for his plotting, Robert Moses would have remained in power until the day he died, and his structures and mindset presumably remained in power until today, and the greater evil of Triborough would have thoroughly reduced NYC to a smoking pile of ash and asphalt, a tire tread stomping on a human face forever.

It does not matter what else he did, and it does not matter why he did it.  Even Empire State Plaza– cut from much the same rotten cloth– can be excused as the lesser evil.

I realize how this probably comes across as silly, but I'm actually quite completely serious here.  Moses was that bad, and defanging him was the mitzvah to end all mitzvahs.

Fair point, I didn't think about that aspect of it.

Politically, he was a failure. In the process of pursing his, unfulfilled, presidential ambitions, he lost the battle over control of the GOP to the right wing.

Beside that, I cannot possibly call a man who introduced the Rockefeller Drug Laws a "FF".

HP, after what I saw he did to Albany, and his bullying tactics to gut the place. He also used patronage down to the local level, and that unfortunate legacy still lives on (not that he invented it, but he fostered it). You want a job working for Columbia County? You had better be a registered Pub. It's just awful.
