Voted 5 stars to offset all of the 1 stars and the fact that are left of center friends are still burthurt about FDR being 'Arthured, but in reality, I'd vote a solid 3 stars.
This pretty much.

I gave two stars, only because I'm more of a Foreign Policy guy when it comes to US Presidents-he only gets 2 stars because he played a big part in helping to end the cold war. Key word is helping, despite what conservatives think Reagan didn't walk in and single handily destroy the USSR- I'd argue the USSR did that when it invaded Prague in 1968, likewise Gorbachev and all the eastern Europeans deserve much more credit than Reagan. Sure his ability to work with Gorbi should be praised.

However that doesn't overlook his complete lack of morals- when you get called out by Thatcher as being an aggressive invader you know something is wrong Along with his support for death squads in Central America, and his support for Apartheid it's clear that he lacked a moral compass. Along with him giving Saddam help in gassing Iranian teenagers-Ronnie wasn't that much of a moral crusader that he's made out as. Anyone calling him a hero, needs to think about just how much evil he allowed to flourish in the world

His speech on medicare in the 1960's is a good eye opener as well- see here

Two stars. Destructive, but transformative. He did not win the Cold War but rather deserves some credit for working with Gorbachev. More than anyone else he capitalized on the deep mistrust in government resulting from Vietnam, Watergate, and the incompetency of the Carter Administration, ushering in the destruction of the middle class that flourished in the postwar years. Iran Contra and his assisting the Taliban were additionally abominable.

I'll be interested to see how many people who give Reagan 1 star will give Clinton 5.

Which will be pretty ironic as you can argue that Bill Clinton from 1994-2000 was more right wing then Reagan

Of course he would have. But the fact is that LBJ was the one who did it, not Reagan.

Every President's actions must be judged in context. Yes, LBJ escalated Vietnam and that proved to be a terrible decision in hindsight, but what people forget is that any other politician at the time would have done pretty much the same. I don't see why LBJ should bear a particular blame for having been around at the time when this happened.

Couldn't agree more. Any president would have gotten us into Vietnam. Not every president would have pulled off the Great Society. What irritates me are the people who give him one star for Vietnam without giving any credit for the fact that he is maybe the most accomplished president ever in terms of domestic policy (except maybe FDR).

I hope you judge George W. Bush and his invasion of Iraq in the same way. Oh wait, you won't...  And no, not ANY other politician would have done the same. You're literally justifiying the actions of a war criminal by (falsely) arguing that "any other politician would have done the same".

Because that diehard pacifist didn't try to bomb the living hell out of northern Viet Nam for purely political reasons. It was a geopolitical backwater whose only purpose to make LBJ look tough so he could pass his domestic agenda.

Despite all his tough talk, Reagan knew when to call it quits (Lebanon). For the record, I gave 2 stars to both but I'd rather vote for a guy willing to talk to the Soviets than the war criminal who should have been hung.

It looks like every liberal on this board Hates Reagan. I would give him 5 stars because it should be ranked in tiers and rehab is a top 2 tier not a bottom 8 like liberals think.
