Hey everyone, I've recently been looking for some websites to make some money to write about politics.  Anybody have some ideas about where to look?

I'd read it. In the same way I always read bawdy messages on bathroom stalls. It makes you feel better about yourself even when you're in a cesspool of a public toilet taking a sh-t.

Seriously?  You've clearly never read the guy's 'content' here if you think so.

I've done some writings for online political portals and for newspapers and if you really want to "make money" on the internet writing, then you're even more clueless than we all thought.

There are plenty of freelance writing gigs out there that pay anywhere from terrible to excellent if you know how to write. It's what I do. People would rather pay others to write the content than spend their own time doing it themselves; not a lot of people can effectively write. They then add affiliate links and the like to the content (or sometimes, they just want non-monetized content for the sake of improving standings in search engines).

Finding any on the subject of politics is downright impossible.

Griff makes an important point. Freelance political writing for the general public is not likely to generate income unless one already has a large base of readers. Journalism is usually the path that leads to paid political writing.

There are a couple other ways you might consider. One is to find an expert niche (tech, health, etc) that has demand and connect with user sites. Along that line, don't ignore writing for internal use. An organization like the Society for Technical Communication provides support for writers who document processes and provide content for corporate websites. It's an important way to make connections into the wider world of writing online.

If you are locked into political writing you should look at a position in communications with a political organization. That can involve working for an individual candidate or official, or being part of a communications team for a party or legislative organization. As with the technical writing path, the key is making connections that will lead to freelance opportunities.
