How many people will watch? And will it be the highest rated show on TV that night?

I'd guess between 7.2 and 8.0 million.

Fox had a Republican debate in August 2011 that got a viewership of ~5 million.  But that wasn't the first debate of the cycle.  This one will be the first, and the candidates are more interesting (I'm sorry, but Pawlenty and Huntsman aren't as exciting as Christie and Trump), so I assume it'll do better.

Though it depends on whether that New Hampshire forum three days earlier gets significant coverage, and is structured like a debate.  If so, I guess it might impact the Fox viewership.

The first debate in 2011 got around 3M, by the fall they were bringing in around 6M.  It could be more but August is not great month for TV.

Not sure the CSPAN NH Union Leader thing is going to be much of a bid draw. Only political junkies will know about it. In fact if there are any sparks it probably will only help build buzz for FOX.
