Knowing how long I've been on Atlas, I am probably the last on the list to modded or what have you but I'd take it up.

I've had a lot to say about what's going on around here which is I really a shame - I like Atlas and its community however the mod team is disorganized and various boards lack any cohesive policy or direction. I have led many mod teams on reddit and know how to operate and how to interact with communities I mod, in the case of LGBTeens, gayporn, and CookieClicker I grew communities and increased content quality. If given modship on Atlas I would attempt to do the same.

There is no reason why Atlas should languish with poor communication and worse enforcement of rules. That's why I'd like to be mod and I hope that I am at least considered for the position.

I just think a bit of an "outside hire" would do you guys some good Tongue

I still don't quite get what specifically the mods could do better with the tools they have. I also don't quite get how to improve posting "quality" without seeming to posters who get nicked for poor quality (a highly subjective concept), as being unduly heavy handed, and dare I say it, "fascist."  There is discussion about overall policy, but naturally, mods don't want to be told too much how to manage their boards either, so that has to be it seems to me a balancing test.

I think it would be a great show of humility and a step towards healing this community if Leip appointed someone who opposed opebo's banning. The forum was split 50-50 on it, and yet the moderator team apparently supported it unanimously. It's this sort of out-of-step arrogance and unwillingness to engage with the forum community that's caused the moderation staff on here to be such a destructive and negative presence.

That is not quite right. I was absent and had opposed it prior to being absent, and it was really a Dave intervention, that brought about a basic consensus sans myself because of a concern that opebo's antics were threatening his business model. But unlike you, I accept the ban decisions that are made in good faith, even if I oppose them. One does not always get one's way, and you win some, and lose some. I opposed the CCSF banning too, for that matter, although I considered it a difficult and close case. Such is life.

I wonder how many really still want to be a Mod after the recent unpleasantness? It hasn't been fun - at all.
