Knowing how long I've been on Atlas, I am probably the last on the list to modded or what have you but I'd take it up.

I've had a lot to say about what's going on around here which is I really a shame - I like Atlas and its community however the mod team is disorganized and various boards lack any cohesive policy or direction. I have led many mod teams on reddit and know how to operate and how to interact with communities I mod, in the case of LGBTeens, gayporn, and CookieClicker I grew communities and increased content quality. If given modship on Atlas I would attempt to do the same.

There is no reason why Atlas should languish with poor communication and worse enforcement of rules. That's why I'd like to be mod and I hope that I am at least considered for the position.

I just think a bit of an "outside hire" would do you guys some good Tongue
Too new.

I wouldn't mind having a shot at moderating if it could help run things more smoothly, but it would need to be on a board I'm active in. So I can't take up Sawx's duties as I'm going to stay away from the 2016 board until January.
Void already filled by Hashemite. Next.

I am a fairly low profile and noncontroversial poster who only joined in 2011, so I think I might be able to fill in the void for a newer poster to serve as moderator if there's any desire for that. I think I'd be decent to handle the 2016 board too since I often read it, but don't really have any bias when it comes to presidential politics (my focus with U.S. elections is on downballot races anyway). In addition, I have no desire to throw around my weight or anything like that just for the sake of it. I would not become a sideshow like we've seen with a number of former moderators on Atlas.
Too bland.

I'd be interested in helping out if you need someone. I'm a mod over at the dark place, and feel like I could do a decent enough job. Plus I think we should relieve some of the current mods of having to watch over endless boards etc. Regardless of all the talk of "lol look at how bad old Atlas is" I actually do care a lot about this place, and the people who post here.

I was also directly involved in the sawx/Snowstalker situation, so I do feel as though I have ties to that situation.
Too connected to AAD.

Although my post count is fairly low compared to other moderators on the forum, I actively keep up with new threads on most of the boards here. I spend most of my time on and quite enjoy the 2016 board anyway (shocking), so I can assure you that any situation needing a mod would be dealt with swiftly and fairly by a Moderator Castro. My goal is not to further some idea of modfascism, but to help this forum that I like very much operate smoothly and without chaos. I've been registered for a little over a year, and lurked for a while before then, and in that time I feel that I have developed the proper wisdom needed to run the 2016 board to it's fullest.

I hope you consider my application, and know that I hold this forum (yes, even the 2016 board) close to my heart and would try to do whatever I can to help keep it filled with stimulating debate and conversation. Thank you.

-Castro
Way too new.

I wasn't going to apply due to my lack of qualifications, but one big one I can offer you: ability to handle sensitive information and not leak it out to the whole planet.
Too likely to leak information.

To echo what I sent Mr. Morden, I'm about to enter my fifth year of posting here and have a very low number of modified posts. Like two or something like that, and one was calling opebo "opervo" a few years ago. The reason why it was modified is something that still eludes me. Moreover, I'm an active poster and can be expected to spend a reasonable amount of time on this forum, sad as it may be. I serve as an "op" in the forum's irc channel and my usage of authority has been well-received (to my knowledge). In the real world, I am entering my second semester chairing an organization's judicial board, and my third overall term on it. It's a thankless job, and both my decision to run for re-election and the fact that I won should be indicative of my commitment and the respect I have from my organizational peers. I also serve or have served in other authority roles such as secretary, pledge class president, head of risk management, student government senator, etc. In terms of what policies I would like to enact as a moderator, I would mainly try to focus on quickly addressing obvious socks and pornography spammers, the latter of which represent a real threat to one's ability and/or willingness to function as a poster here. Beyond that, I think we need to draw a few consistent lines in the sand regarding acceptability. Where these lines actually are isn't as much of my concern as how predictable it is that they will be enforced. Aside from the clear and present enemies to forum life, I do believe we should exercise restraint in actions until it's clear what is going on and how best to respond. I'd deeply appreciate your consideration.
We have a winner, ding ding ding ding ding!

Allow me to demonstrate the troll hunting skills I'd bring to the table as a moderator: Retrumplican and Green Line are both socks and are almost certainly the same person.

Nope, must have me confused with someone else. U
Ah, my mistake. I remember a D-TX avatar with an account there. None the less, the said poster is a moderator over there that makes our mod teams alleged "moderator fascism" look mild in comparison.

How long do you have to be a member here for consideration?
A very, very, very long time IMO.
