For those who are curious, this is a prototype (emphasis important).

If you guys come to a consensus on how many seats you're going to have, let me know and I can fix the map accordingly (provided you like it.)

I like the proposed map. How many constituencies does it have, Dallasfan65? 20?

I would like to join. One question, would we play with our usernames or would it be a RPG?

Oh, and I counted 29 constituencies. Not sure what the thing is with Chicago and Mile High, though...

I do have a map suggestion, though after seeing Dallas' suggestion, it might be too simplified. Oh, I do realize that Piedmont would better go where New Dixie is, but I couldn't find an idea that would join up that area. Appalachia would leave out Delaware. However I COULD do "Crabcakeland", though I would have West Virginia with Heartland, though my idea was to not Gerrymander the states and keep it into one blob. Ugh Civil War and Virginia-West Virginia split Tongue

EDIT: 12 Constituencies, not including the Territories. We could split them to make it 14, just in case if there's number superstitious people here (TBH I am a bit. It's mainly just uncomfortableness, other than that its okay.) Also, after further looking, Winnebago and Rust Belt could be fused. Both Dixie's and Heartland as well. Deseret, Big Sky, and Great Plains could be made into one big megastate, though we would run into one of the biggest problems that plagued Atlasia, the megastate problem.

I don't care what they end up being as long as they have decent and suitable names.

The only thing about that map is that the New York split is sort of odd. It seems like you have "New York" as being just geographic Long Island - Brooklyn, while "Lesser NY" takes up the rest.

I certainly support this initiative.  As always, TNF and I have a similar perspective on what the general structure of a political simulation should look like (although I must say I'd really like a game with multiple nations...).

I have two proposals for maps:

1) Uneven amount of states, even amount of US population

California
Olympia
Rockies
Red River
Mimal
Mishigami
Rust Belt
Everglades
Dixie
Franklin
Hudson (NY & NJ)
New England

Each district elects one representative, each district along with three others elect four as a whole "megaregion" using PR-STV.

Rust Belt/Franklin/Hudson/New England
Everglades/Dixie/Mishigami/Mimal
Rio Grande/Rockies/Olympia/California

2) Even amount of states, uneven amount of population

Oeste
Pacific
Four Corners
Big Sky
Rio Grande
Plains Country
Far North
Corn Belt
Gulf Coast
Atlantica
Riverlands (MD, DE, PA, NJ, & NY)
New England

Each district elects one representative, each district along with three others elect four as a whole "megaregion" using PR-STV.

if we're doing the "'80s america shortly after overthrowing a fascist regime" setting, it's possible that the population distribution would be different.

so you can take some liberties and go with something more like this:

california/pacific-north/jefferson/deadwood/dixie/superia/wabash/saginaw/virginia/allegheny/new england/caribbea (includes cuba and puerto rico)

The only thing about that map is that the New York split is sort of odd. It seems like you have "New York" as being just geographic Long Island - Brooklyn, while "Lesser NY" takes up the rest.

Call it sloppiness and a lack of familiarity with the Boroughs. You're welcome to help me fix it in a (hypothetical) final version.

I like the proposed map. How many constituencies does it have, Dallasfan65? 20?

I forget the exact count but I think it was in the mid 20's. I'm working under the assumption that I'll have to reduce a few constituencies, but some of those can be simple fixes (merging New York with Lesser New York, divvying up Berkshire between Erie and Great Bay, combining the St Louis district with the Chicago one.)

I would certainly participate.

We should consider the in-game story that led to the formation of whatever this country is. What laws do we start with on the books? How did it come to be that the country previously known as America is a parliamentary democracy?

How about this: a presidential election (maybe sometime in the 80s or 90s, maybe '00) is won by a [fictitious] third-party candidate who establishes a fascist regime in the U.S. It's overthrown, and this is the new American republic.

Actually, this is an important question: will the size of the Parliment be limited to 20, and no one else can participate in the game?  Or will there be chances for the rest of us to participate in other roles?  I'm interested in joining somehow, but obviously if there's a cap it's clearly full up.
