Nominations for the position of Speaker of the Provisional Parliament are now open. We'll have a period of 24 hours for nominations. In order to be considered a candidate, a candidate must have one nomination (it can be from himself or herself) plus a second from another MP.

As TNF is basically acting as Speaker at this time I support him for the position.

Some have suggested moving the number of MPs to 21 to avoid ties, or shall we just break ties based on how the Speaker voted?

You could also prevent the Speaker from having a deliberative vote and make him abstain on all non-tied votes.

It's the same simulation. This is the thread for the actual provisional parliament. The other thread is the sign-up/misc. discussion thread.

I will open the ballot tomorrow morning before I leave for work. As it stands, only myself and Blair have qualified for the ballot for provisional Speaker.

I urge support of TNF, despite some thinking he's an extremist or what have you. He showed himself capable in the Senate and kind of started this thing off, so you got to give him that. He's also been in extensive IRC discussions with other MPs over the direction that should be taken, and I believe has the best idea of what's going on, you know kind of creating the "Rules of Order."

I'm rambling now, but I fourth TNF!

Sorry I wasn't able to open the vote this morning guys, the hotel I'm holed up in has some pretty terrible WiFi that likes to go out for hours at a time. A vote is now open on the election of a Speaker for the Provisional Parliament. Unless any object, I motion (in the interest of time) that voting continues until we reach a majority in favor of one candidate, or if that doesn't happen within the 24 hour period allotted for the vote, at the expiration of the time period.
