Military actions on Iran are a terrible idea. To permanently end nuclear ambitions for sure by military means would require outright war followed by military occupation (no surgical strikes would not cut it!). That would be a major blow against the world economy, America's very credibility would be diminished after going back on its word, end what is a bastion of stability in the region, further stifle moderation and promote reactionary backlash, probably boost proliferation etc. walker is looking more idiotic by the second.

He wouldn't be the first Republican president to have something big come out of Iran on his first day in office. The hostages were released on Reagan's inauguration day, and as we all remember, it was from the massive bombing campaign he unleashed on Tehran and the government's complete refusal to negotiate with those terrorist thugs... oh wait.

sad that the new yardstick for a 'sane' candidate is the one that doesn't threaten to start a war on his first day in office

The Iranians are still able to go nuclear under this agreement, and our agreeing to lift these economic sanctions is a disaster.
Since the agreement limits Iran to 3.57% enriched Uranium which is about 15 times lower than what is required to build a nuclear weapon, it certainly doesn't. As for the sanctions, they are not lifted until Iran has clearly shown that they have substantially reduced the ability to enrich Uranium and can be easily restored more or less at the will of the US government. Even if at this point Iran goes back on the deal, they would have lost maybe a decade and with a greatly reduced ability to catch up. Perhaps it would be better if you informed yourself better before posting obviously untrue claims. Here's a short introduction.

So far Walker:

- won't say if he believes in evolution
- won't say if he thinks the Confederate flag should be taken down
- won't say if he thinks being gay is a choice
- likens defeating peaceful protesters to fighting ISIS
- says he might bomb Iran on his first day in office.

Looks like we have a winner!

Don't worry, Guvnuh Walker only needs to check out whether our Muslim evil libruh high emperor Barack Osama supports evolution, taking down the confederate flag and these other issues. He will come with answers next week!

Ok, I don't hate Walker that much, but it is really funny making fun of him. I get a Dubya vibe from him though. I really don't understand why Walker is polling that high, surely he isn't a complete disaster as a governor and he took unions down, but he got himself in a recall attempt. He won, but he shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Honestly, this is some seriously far out and crazy stuff. Iran is capable of closing the straits of Hormuz, sinking a US aircraft carrier or two, and inflicting some serious damage on Israel. They are not a pushover like Iraq.

Of course, we do need to deal with Iran one way or the other. But saying that you would do it on the first day really does betray a lack of seriousness. You have to have some planning. Even the Germans in 1914 didn't just jump in there aimlessly. They had the Schlieffen plan.

If you think that the US needs to go to war with Iran (as you seem to imply) your own post differs from the position of Walker only by degree, not by substance, so you should be a bit more careful about calling him crazy...

I'm not saying the US has to go to war with Iran. Just that Iran has to be dealt with, in one way or the other. Exactly what way that is, takes some thought, careful consideration, and planning.

Iran has sunburn missiles, supercavitating torpedoes, swarms of fast attack boats, and millions of actual and potential troops. And unlike Iraq, Iran actually has a non-negligible air force (including F-14s that we sold them), and has modern Russian SAMs that may be capable of shooting down (with some luck) a stealth bomber.

In any actual war with Iran, it is possible that thousands of US troops could get killed in a single day. That is not something that the US has experienced since WW2.

All the above is true.  But if Walker goes to war with Iran, his approval rating will jump 20 points overnight, and he'll get to ram through a national right-to-work law!

Scott Walker doesn't give a crap about the lives of our servicemen.  He's a self-absorbed puke.
