Why would anyone even want to be a moderator anymore?

You're not bring paid or anything so if you don't like it, just step down. Surely you must find some incentive to motivate you to do this. You either like it or are a complete fool wasting you're time. No one is crying out for you to come save us as if you are the only one who can. You're a fine poster (though I haven't seen you around for a while sadly save your AC comment), but there is no shortage of equally capable individuals who could fill the void.

It seems to me that there are many people who would be reliable moderators and want to be one, and there are some moderators that would rather not be moderators. The solution seems pretty simple here.
