This is an interesting angle- he is making it mainly about using the funds to treat prisoners who are mentally disabled, and how it helps transition them back into the workforce. He's obviously trying to appeal to the pro-work ethic crowd. We'll see if it works. Here is the short video I found of him in NH explaining it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ3jJiOviNE

The vid is less than 2 mins long. I'd like to see what you guys think about the message from a political standpoint.

I don't really want this thread to become a "they hate poor people", "welfare leech" mess.

Medicaid already covered the retarded before. That was the problem though. It basically ONLY covered the retarded and the hopelessly insane, and the chronically homeless. It wasn't really a safety net as it only went into effect after you hit rock bottom and became a lost cause. I guess what he's saying is technically true. The retarded are now free to get jobs as bag boys without jeopardizing their healthcare. That's got to be a fraction of those covered though. Mostly it's just normal poor people. So it is very disingenuous, although disingenuous for a good cause.

Also, coming from a leftists perspective, this is obviously a bad angel, if only because he's saying "hey, I'm doing this so that even more people will be competing for the same low wage jobs and driving down the pay!"
