Besides Chicago, these are by far my two favorite cities in America.

There's only one correct answer in this poll, and it's New York.

If you pick San Francisco, you're actually voting wrong.

If you're voting for anything other than San Fran here, you've got it all wrong. Just. Plain. Wrong

Dang coastal elites. We landlocked chumps can't get to your cities easily, so we can't judge either one's superiority or inferiority.

And I'm right.

You can't go to a real beach from Chicago.

No idea. Lots'a people in either city that seem pretty intolerable. I might actually go to SF one day due to family living there, but I don't have a reason to go to New York City except for school or something later on.

By that standard Biloxi is a better city than Chicago. Try again.

Voted SF in the poll, but I've never been to NYC.

I mean, I'm sure that makes sense if you don't think about it, but not when you actually think about it.

I've never been to either, but...

If I could only visit one of the two, I'd rather visit NYC.
If I had to live in one of the two, I'd rather live in SF.

I tend to prefer rural, but if I did decide to live in a city SF is one of my top choices.

Actual picture from the city of San Francisco. If you turn all around, you'll see trees, rocks, hikers, ocean. You don't see any buildings or roads. The only clue that you're not somewhere fairly remote is the Golden Gate Bridge.

SF is a decent town though. Actually, it's a great city with terrible politics (and all that entails).

Have spent some time in NYC, but I have never been to San Francisco (I'll be heading there this weekend though).

I imagine that both cities are equally full of themselves, but I imagine that New York City would have to take the cake for, y'know, pretty much being the capital of Western Civilization in the 21st Century?  It's in such an elite category of global metropolis that its only competitor might be, say, London?

Really tough call for me, I like both cities a lot. I went with SF in the end because I'd rather live there. NYC is a great place to visit, and I wouldn't mind living in a nearby suburb, but I would never want to actually live in Manhattan.

It's simple. If you are a Type-A, fast-paced, douchey personality then you prefer New York. If you are laid-back, slow-paced, and passive-aggressive, then you prefer San Francisco.

New York is fine but overcrowded. San Fran is beautiful. SFO all the way.

Because remember, there are two types of people.

San Francisco is one of the absolute greatest cities in the world and I think it's ahead of NYC in so many ways. The only real issue with SF is the cost of living, but NYC has the same issue, so that's practically a wash.
