I had thought about this before, but Ag's comment:
"Quote from: Fuzzy Bear on July 19, 2015, 07:03:11 am
First, he makes harsh (but not false) comments about Mexican immigration

As a murderer and rapist myself, this is where I stopped reading. I presume, in fact, quite a few of us would."

convinced me to make this post.

For me, depending on the context of course, if a journalist writes any of these things I immediately quit reading:

1.Class warfare
2.Elitist
3.Politically correct (in most cases)
4.Personal responsibility
5.Social engineering
6.Socialism/Socialist (when commenting on Democrats)
7.AGW is really just a natural cycle.
8.AGW is really caused by the sun.

I believe I have more, but I either can't remember them right now, or I simply haven't heard them in quite a while. ("Bush derangement syndrome" being an obvious example)

and this is a big problem.  You SHOULD read the crap your political opponents spew.  It makes it all that much easier to make them look foolish.  You know, like when they use slavery as an analogy very poorly.

...and, you know, sometimes they are right Wink  and you change your position.  If that NEVER happens to you, you're doing politics wrong.....or more correctly, you're what is wrong with politics.

1.Life's too short.

2.I'm more interested in reading views that I disagree with that are, at least, thoughtful.  Though, when it comes to conservatives, I don't know any that have done this since Milton Friedman died.

For instance, on the other side of the spectrum, I would add 'living wage.' (living wage for who? a single person? a single earner with a family? Where? in places where the cost of living is high?  low?), but at least the discussion with it general makes some good points.

Plus "fascist" if written by an amateur. "Neocon" always.

Lame-stream
Fascist, Hitler, Nazi - when comparing to modern American politics
Family, traditional - on articles about gay marriage
"The fact of the matter is..."
"You won't believe..."
Meritocracy - when used in a negative sense
"The only reason the Democrats don't run all of government is gerrymandering"

also
Anything that's obviously SJW or Tea Party jargon.

In addition to many of the above, I'll nominate any time someone deliberately contorts a term to make it "scary" a la "Demoncrap" or "Rethuglican".

On liberal articles:

-"Testocracy"
-Fascist
-Un-Christlike

On conservative articles:
-Global cooling (with a few exceptions, if the writer fleshes out the similarities/differences)
-Leech, low-life, thug
-0bama or similar

There are some others, but these come to mind right away.

Nothing really ever makes me say "Oh screw this I'm done" just because I see a term I dislike, but rambling about cultural appropriation comes really close.

The language used in the most egregious articles usually make me curious enough to at least skim the rest. Call it the t-host factor. Usually the comments on those comments are even "better"...

- Whenever flunkies of the Democratic or Republican parties harp on human rights elsewhere in the world
- Whenever flunkies of the Democratic or Republican parties say that other countries are being 'belligerent', or conducting an 'aggressive' foreign policy that runs counter to 'American interests'
- 'American interests'
- Any appeal to religious authority (I can't stand it when 'leftists' quote the Pope or appeal to his authority, but ofc the worst/most egregious is an appeal to the Dalai Lama)
- SJW buzzwords ('problematic', 'unpacking', 'x privilege/check your privilege', 'objectification', implications that white people are a homogenous community with no internal class divisions, implications that minority groups are homogenous communities with no internal class divisions)

Anything where the writer blatantly misunderstands what a policy or ideology actually is. For example:

On the right: Being in the 50% tax bracket means your entire income is taxed at 50%
On the left: Thinking conflating libertarian with anarchist
