SJoyce has received four votes and Blair has received three votes; therefore SJoyce is elected Deputy Leader.

I'd like to thank the candidates and the party for the well-conducted election.

I'd also remind the party at-large that nominations for the party list remain open for another twenty-four hours.

Right now we have six candidates in the field. I think we should nominate 7 or 8, if not 9. Obviously we won't win that many seats, but if we're going to fill vacancies by going to the next candidate on a list, we need some people willing to stand by and serve too.

I guess I'd be willing to take a lower slot on the list and if I do end up eventually having to fill a seat in parliament due to a vacancy or something, then I could always resign from the executive committee.

Oh, well in that case I'll definitely nominate myself for the party list Tongue

Nominations have closed.  The following members has nominated for a space on the party list:

Barnes
Vega
BaconBacon96
Blair
X

Members, under the rules I invite you to post your most favored candidate for each position on the list ranging from 3 to 7.  For example:

3. Sunflowers
4. Violets
5. Daisies
6. Roses
7. Marigolds

Voting will last for 24 hours.  The members most preferred for each slot will be victorious; ties will be broken by the party leadership.

Yes, but I was trying to make it work for multiple positions. If everyone approves of all candidiates, we'd have to break a tie for every position.

I apologize for the confusion and will defer to the party at-large for the procedure.

Ok, after looking at the secret ballot option, I think it's feasible, but not in time for the upcoming election. I plan to propose a review once that is done.

For now, after speaking with Barnes, we'll just go with the approval method designed by SJoyce and in the Constitution. If there are ties, we're confident they can be resolved.

Apologies to everyone for the confusion with this.  We will be conducting a review of the process shortly.

Below is the official ballot.  The 24 hour voting period is deemed to commence from now.

Yeah, maybe approval rating wasn't the best of ideas. It'd work well for selecting a larger list, with secret (and more importantly, impersonal) voting. Probably want to modify this.

I move to immediately halt voting and commence discussion on an amendment to our party constitution:

I agree.  Under my prerogative as Chairman I cancel the vote forthwith.

The regular procedure to amend the constitution is for the full Executive to debate a proposed amendment and approve it by a two-thirds vote.

I will write to the full Executive now.

The Party Executive has approve the proposed rules change with unanimous support.  I declare the amendment carried.

We will now proceed immediately to the balloting for the party list.

Since X said earlier he'd prefer a lower spot, I'm going to have to put him last (sorry X Sad)

1. Barnes
2. Blair
3. BaconBacon
4. Vega
5. X

In addition, Polnut has informed that while he isn't interested in running formally this time, he'd be willing to take the last spot on our last this election so we have a candidate in place should a vacancy come up. That means we'll be able to have 8 candidates on the list.
