Positive/Negative

I thought the goal of any future changes were to improve the quality of discourse so removing good posters was a great first step Roll Eyes

Ignore all map benefits as I consider those an asset separate from the forum.

Was it an incorrect decision by the mods to (with genuine sadness) ban a moderator who gave away her password to allow someone else access to personal information? What would you have done?

Stripped her of moderation duties and banned her for a period of 4 months.

Immediately revoke the moderator position from that person, and perhaps consider a temp-ban until they can sort themselves out.

Permanently removing the person is excessive given their unique situation.

Everyone has a unique situation.  In BK's case, I think the permaban is not truly permanent but an indefinite tempban since when she returns is up to when she is deemed ready rather an specific period of time.

Can we please stop pretending that if it was anyone other than BK everyone would be tossing the person to the wolves?

Overwhelmingly worse from when I joined in late 2012.

Positive/Negative is the default choice, but
Positive/Joke is more like it.

Funny you should mention that. At one point, it was assumed that it was possible that passwords could be seen at AAD (we know better now), and my password at both sites was the same, and I thought what if my account has been logged into and used to heist the mod cave threads?  Then I am banned, and am left trying to prove my innocence. I thought to myself vis a vis BK, there but for the grace of God go I. But it turned out, unfortunately as it turned out obviously, to be a different scenario. We were chasing down a considerable number of red herrings in the Cave.

i don't think torie or inks being manipulated in the way that bq was is a realistic scenario

Maybe that just speaks to the fact that blaming it all on someone else's manipulation is a little weak.

I'd consider severe bi-polar disorder a pretty decent mitigating factor.

What!? Tweed used BK's mental state to his advantage. That's the manipulation that people are talking about. It doesn't make it less severe, if anything it makes it worse.

i would think marokai means a mitigating factor for bq, not for tweed

Yes. That's why I hope BK will be allowed to come back, if he wishes so, after he's better in RL.

I don't think anyone in the Cave disagrees with that as to BK. I am sure that aspect will be considered in due course.

No, but finding the line between culpability and not being in the right state of mind to be properly responsible is quite difficult. I believe the moderator action was warranted, and I believe if it was not BK making all the same defenses the ban would be better received in the community.

We've had our downsides and upsides. The crisis is serious but we can recover.
