Yes, but because it's stupid for people who post once every blue moon to be mods. Really, normal people would be like "Alright guys, I'm not interested/too busy for the forum these days. I'm going to resign so someone else can take over". Not sure why it's so difficult for these mods to resign.

Mr.Moderate is welcome to his opinion over the BK thing but nobody is going to take that opinion seriously if you descend down after long periods of inactivity to say it.

Inclined to agree with aizen fwiw. Mods should probably be shuffled a bit more often, or on year-length terms; something concrete like that.

No. What he said was dumb and unwarranted, especially considering that he seems to know less about this story than a majority of regular posters, but one dumb post isn't grounds for demodding.

Keep saying it over and over if it makes you happy, but you still have absolutely no proof.

Even though I've been here for two days i'm still entitled to my opinion.  Like I said, I've been lurking for longer than that

People are not going to be de-modded for expressing opinions that people disagree with.  You are absolutely entitled to disagree with his opinion, explain why, and try to influence him and others.  We'll be open to your arguments, and for my part, I probably agree with you more.  However, this clearly cannot be grounds for de-modding.

Reasonable?

I agree that mods should be shuffled more often.  Though part of the reason why the current system has evolved the way it has is that, for many years, mods would try to resign and Dave would never respond to their request.  Lunar tried to quit for years without being successful.  Similar situation with Spade.  So because quitting has often been difficult/impossible, we have adapted into this situation where mods end up never leaving their posts unless they commit wrongdoing, which is less than ideal.  It sounds like Dave is now serious about making some reforms though, so maybe this will change.  For my own part, I think there's a strong possibility that I'll retire from moderatorship after the 2016 election (assuming you can find a replacement who isn't terrible Wink ).  I don't really want to be a moderator forever.

That said, even though he doesn't post here that often anymore, I think Alcon should still be a mod-at-large for life, as when he does post on the mod board his insights are invaluable, notable again with this week's troubles.

Having mods that never post is just one of the many problems.

He shouldn't be demodded for the BK issue. But he needs to be more active to be a proper mod.

He should be de-modded for not being an active mod more than his atrocious comments about BK.

What about Mr. Moderate's  recent lack of activity makes him inappropriate to be a mod? It's not like he's disappeared like Master Jedi or Emsworth. As long as complaint reports aren't piling up on the boards he mods, Mr. M has been around long enough to know the Forum and what makes it tick even if he's behind on the latest club gossip.

Just because one's real life makes it difficult for a period to follow the latest twist on Update or the results of the last fantasyland election doesn't mean one should stop being a mod altogether.

Why not? There are plenty of capable people interested in moderating. No need to stay on for years - especially if you are no longer that active. Lets change half the mods every year  and get some rotation.
