This is a question for Democrats, because for some reason I keep thinking about it and how it seems that if this were to happen there would be celebrating among the left.  And to me, it's inexcusable to rejoice in the death of another person and the suffering inflicted on his family.

Just a passing thought.

Tell that to all the dead Iraqis.

no -because if he is assassinated he will instantly become a martyr of the Republican Party and of the conservative movement.  that is the last thing i would ever wish on him.  he will be worth more trouble dead than alive.

And we all know how well the Freepers and other right wingers follow this whenever Rachel Corrie is brought up.

or how about StatesRights:

Of course not, it would be terrible from both a personal and political standpoint.

I never want to see anyone die.

Presidents who were shot are generally loved more than they would otherwise be (see. Kennedy, John F), and I don't want GWB to go down in history as a great President. Of course, this is second to the first reason.

No, what would make me happy is if he was impeached and convicted and thrown in jail.

Won't happen. There's no way between now and '08 that 66 Senators will vote to convict Bush unless he admitted to eating babies or something.

I'm not a Democrat, but i'll answer: Much as I would like to see President Cheney, I don't think killing Bush is the way to go.

Wow, what is wrong with all of you? Just because you disagree with his politics doesn't mean he should die. That's ridiculous and no better than the "you're going to Hell!" stuff the religious right pulls.

(By the way, I bet a good number of non-Democrats will vote Yes here just to be mean.)

voting yes anonymously might be OK, but if you admit it here you will be arrested by the FBI.

There is nothing illegal about saying you would be happy if it happened, that I know of. Saying that you'd do it, on the other hand, is a different matter.

That won't be ahppeining because the Democratic Party is such a mess they were unable to take either House of Congress despite a narrow GOP victory for the Presidency, difficult times in foreign affairs, and shaky economy. What did you guys do to screw your party up so bad? I mean you had Congress from 1955-1995 with a few exceptions. Why has the good ship DNC started to sink?

(I've wanted to say this for a while.)

No - I would feel badly for his family. Though I would not do anything to honor him.

No, he's a human being and no matter how much I disagree with him I wouldn't be happy if he were dead. Let me ask right wingers if they would be happy if Bill Clinton died or maybe Jimmy Carter, two former Democratic presidents or does your "culture of life" extend to liberals as well? Although, it does not extend to war or the death penalty. I thought it was hilarious when the White House was trying to compare George Bush to the Pope after he passed. Then when a reporter metioned that George Bush put over 150 people to death while he was governor of Texas, they scolded her for mentioning that while they were talking about the pope. Not to mention that the Pope opposed the Iraq war.

I only care about innocent life, personally. As for the pope, the comparison is certainly terrible – the pope is nowhere near Bush's level.

Innocent life is never lost in war? If you were a Christian you would know that all life is precious no matter how horribly that life was used and all people should have the opportunity to repent.

No.  As I've said before in the past, anyone who would be happy because of someone else dying has some serious soul-searching to do, regardless of who the person is.

Okay, if what you're saying is that I don't think that no one, at any time, unconditionally, should be killed, than you are correct.

No.  As I've said before in the past, anyone who would be happy because of someone else dying has some serious soul-searching to do, regardless of who the person is.

Someone you disagree with politically, yes. In general, I disagree.

No.  I agree with Alcon and J.R. Brown.  I also think a President Cheney would be MUCH worse.  Bush may be a moron, but at least he means well.  Cheney is vindictive.  If Bush were killed, he would be a martyr and pragmatic centrists would surely favor the GOP.

Whoa. I may disagree with Bush's foreign policy but that doesn't mean I wish death on the guy. No way.
