Both personally and for Wisconsin.

He's got between $10k and $100k in credit card debt, and a net worth of -$72k.

And the state has a $2 billion deficit.

After his announcement when he signed the budget, I realized the news that there's a 2.2 billion dollar deficit. He'll try to ignore it and bounce it off, but this is a serious problem. Fiscal conservatives have less of a reason to support him.

If by fiscal conservatives you mean people like the Koch brothers then good luck with that.
They only care if he will be a loyal stooge for them who will deregulate the market, cut their taxes and dismantle the safety net.

It's no secret Walker doesn't really care about debt or deficit - he's scoffed at his states senator, Ron Johnson, for being a budget hawk.

Why are you posting an April article that was debunked in May?

I hate when Democrats criticize Republicans for being too fiscally liberal.  Isn't that what you want?  Why's it so different just because there's an R by his name?

The only people criticizing this should be Republicans.

"Fiscally liberal" isn't an actual political position.

Anyway, the hypocrisy of Republicans on this is what raises eyebrows.

Do his personal finances matter? Does anyone doubt his ability to pay back interest $72,000 and interest very quickly if need be?

Walker's budget deficit is caused by massive tax cuts and in order to fix a problem of his own making, he wants to slash government spending to the point where his own legislative majority is balking.

That is not a liberal fiscal policy.  Yes, many liberals are fine with running a deficit as long as the economy grows more quickly than the debt and advocate a large temporary deficit during a crisis.

However, any liberal would cringe out how Walker got himself into the fiscal hole (reckless tax cuts), and how he plans to get himself out of it (reckless spending cuts).

Walker gave back a big portion of his salary as Milwaukee County executive.

Obviously, the state budget is worth more looking into, however.

Fiscally conservative is such a meaningless term. technically most communists are fiscal conservatives.

Not that there is any chance this was a cheap gimmick.

Sure, but his financial situation would be better had he not done that.
