Could he be the compromise candidate between the establishment that wants a high-profile elected official and the base that wants a Trump or Carson? He surged to 13% in the latest NBC poll.

It is quite remarkable that he's now in the top 50% bracket for electability out of the people running.

The performance of Cruz in the debate was not memorable, but if the numbers of the last search are repeated, may eventually become an option against Trump.

To be honest, I don't see why he surged as much as he did, but then again it's way too early to tell who gained or lost in the polls post debate, but I think the NBC poll may be a good indicator of that. But I digress.

Selecting Cruz instead of Trump is like choosing to die from AIDS instead of dying from cancer.
