Cuomo's comment about "Conservatives having no place in New York"

The irony, it burns.

Cuomo's comment about "Conservatives having no place in New York"

The irony, it burns.

Cuomo was referring to actual republicans, not conservative democrats like himself.

Cuomo is literally a republican tool, so even considering that...

e: also, the quote says "conservatives," so not sure where you're going with that.

A childish argument that does nothing to convince anyone of anything. That said, when a conservative (or a liberal, for that matter) says something that is blatantly counterfactual, they deserve to be called out for it.

The point. I'd like to see conservatives go back to promoting an economic order and educational practices that give more people a stake in the system.

Everyone who disagrees with me is stupid. That's why they're stupid.

In the sense that conservatives are humans, obviously very correct (much to my chagrin).

It's an enormous over-generalization. Of course not every conservative is stupid, but the fact is Republican candidates often try to exploit ignorance, and anti-intellectualism is definitely present in the Republican party.

You pick and choose what kind of anti-intellectualism is okay and what types of people are exempt from it, if we're being honest.  It seems perfectly acceptable to call out native Arizonans who don't want an open border near their homes as "xenophobic" or "racist" and belittle them, regardless of their (many times legitimate) motives ... yet it would be horrifically unacceptable for a conservative to chastise a similar Democratic constituency as primitive or stupid for their beliefs.  Let's use the recent race turbulence as an example: Any conservative who came out and called Black rioting in Ferguson (which had several legitimate reasons behind it) the acts of anti-intellectual responses to the law of the land, rooted in anything-but-level-headed reasoning would be condemned as a racist, elitist, out-of-touch idiot.  If you ask me, the protestors shouting "Black lives matter" at Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley, not allowing them to even respond and then shouting more at them when their thoughtful answer didn't match the *chosen words* of said movement, was pretty anti-intellectual and emotionally charged.  And what was the Democratic frontrunner's response?  To fan the flames for political gain in order to stave off a primary challenger.

There's nothing wrong with emotion in politics of course, and technocrats are unwise to forget that.

There are positive emotions (courage, selflessness, affection, a sense of justice, etc.) and negative emotions (fear, anger, pride, etc). The latter shouldn't be encouraged in everyday life, let alone in the political sphere.

Yeah, anger is the key emotion to build a solid political view from. Isn't that essentially the root of leftism, really? An anger towards a system that seems designed to hurt and weaken the reliable? Anger towards people starving while others engorge themselves? Etc.

In fact I would argue that all political views, of all iterations, are based on deep emotional reactions.

People transfixed by labels are "stupid." It makes for lazy thinking. Everything is prepackaged for you.
