Nope, and most restrictions designed to combat 'cruelty to animals' (aside from laws against bestiality obviously) should be abolished too.

So torture the animals all you want.  Just don't have sex with them.

You got it.

You're a horrific individual.

Am I? I love my cats as much as the next guy and would never do a thing to hurt them unless it was absolutely necessary. On the other hand, they're my property (well, my family's property, but the principle is the same), and I cannot see anything in them that means they deserve to be gifted some of the same rights as humans. As for other animals, well, that is not my concern for they are not my property.

Cassius is not a real poster.

Yet, despite being an 'unreal' poster, I still seem able to post. Rather bizarre don't you think?

Yes, you are horrific, because you want the law to allow others to torture animals. It doesn't matter whether they are property or not, there are always red lines.

Yeah, I agree that other animals don't deserve the same rights as humans. But that doesn't mean you should be allowed to abuse or torture them.

I seem to be very much out of the mainstream here.

? Both options are around equal.

Unless you're talking about circuses in general. I like acrobatics, but not animal acts. And I find clowns nightmarish, so they're out...

Yes, no animal( human or otherwise) should be subjected to the horrendous working conditions of circuses.

Has anyone else here read Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter? I maintain that it's criminally underrated amidst her body of work.

The Big Cats seem to like it because they get treated like dogs.

What shua said. I know enough about elephants, specifically, to know that using them in circuses is unjustifiable.

They are a fine and ancient cultural tradition.
