Anecdotal experience demonstrates that assimilation and socioeconomic status are more important than race. It just so happens that our immigration system encourages poor migrants who do not learn English. If you fixed the laws to encourage more skilled migration and got rid of handouts I think you would see more industrious Hispanic immigration, with the appropriate effect on voting patterns.6.
