Paul managed to get some of his dad's supporters who had soured on him back, so that might count as a "win" for him. But he did nothing to appeal to people outside the base Ron already had. Christie probably came across more favorable to the average Republican, so he'll probably benefit more from it.

I'm seriously not a Paul fan, but I really thought he nailed this one. Christie was relying too much on personal anecdotes, and Paul was able to call him out with the "every time you prosecuted someone, you got a warrant" line. Plus, Paul's biggest issue is that he panders way too hard and it's impossible to nail down what he actually believes in. In that moment, you could see that he honestly believed what he was saying and was willing to defend it.

Christie won, even though Paul was in the right.

Christie. Rand Paul rolled his eyes at 9/11 victims. It was clear during that argument that Chris Christie's actual experience with the Patriot Act far outweighs Paul's hypothetical rhetorical battles against the NSA.

Pretty sure he rolled his eyes because Christie went with a chest-beasting patriotism argument rather than a logical one.

Rand Paul. If Christie won the battle than the Republican Party is abominable (not to mention a huge government party). I don't see how any rational person would cheer on Christie there.

This, but I'd roll my eyes at 9/11 victims if they advocated the policies that got us attacked in the first place.

Atlas being tied on this question is more evidence of the blatant curb stomping that awful Paul guy received from Christie.

I'm biased, but I definitely started clapping when Rand mentioned that we fought a revolution over the bill of rights. When your only rebuttal to the Bill of Rights is 9-11 (and its not 2001 - 2005), I don't see how you can win the argument. Just look at Rudy.

Christie by far... that comment about getting hugs from the families of 9/11 victims after Paul said he was getting hugs from Obama was amazing

Totally agreed. So emotional. Rand Paul can come across as so flat and almost autist-like so many times, and this was certainly no exception. I think he realized his own blundered with that smirk he showed off to the camera. Either he was embarrassed of himself or he thought he had crushed Christie, perhaps a little bit of both to be honest.

I think we can now safely say the correct answer is: they both lost.

Yet Rand Paul lost far more. Wink How else could he have literally no more supporters than Jim Gilmore right now? Tongue However, Paul might make a comeback, as might Christie. I have a stronger confidence in a Christie comeback though.
