Why did the Tea Party primary Eric Cantor?
I'd say it's because of his support for immigration reform and supporting immigration reform has been toxic to Republican congresspeople and senators. For example, John McCain was in actual danger of losing his Senate seat in 2010 but J.D. Hayworth ran a bad campaign.
I've actually met the guy who defeated Eric Cantor in the primary last year in the Richmond area. He seems like a great guy and he was a college professor.
I'll agree with that. Dave Brat is one of the only Tea Party figures left that I actually think is an amazing person.
