What's the most you've ever spent on shoes?

I'm surprised by some prices. Unless you have some medical condition that requires special or custom built shoes or are a professional athlete why would you ever spend three figures on shoes?

Want to know a little secret? If you, you know, actually walk a lot then cheap shoes are a false economy. Financially speaking you are actually much better off buying well made shoes that will last forever than continually buying new cheap pairs.

That's true. Target sells some sneakers really cheap, like $15-20, but when I was buying them they were constantly falling apart. I realized I'm better off getting shoes at twice the price, they last more twice as long.

But there's still a limit. $40 shoes and $100 shoes will probably last about the same.
